....it's got a bell on!

Posted Image

I have used these clip on bells since I was a kid. This one is one of my original ones! They're great when baiting up another rod, or any other time your back is turned.

Does anyone else use them, or any other means of audible bite indication from the beach?

My reason for asking is that we've just been speaking to a guy from abroad who has developed something along these lines, specifically for sea fishermen.

Tight lines,

Make sure you take it off to cast. That's how most of them are lost!!

I used to use them ... for both shore and loch fishing, I bought a handfull of them from the Glasgow Angling Centre .... they worked great, although a bit annoying on a windy day :) Like Jim says, remember to take them off when you cast .... thats why I only have one left !!!!!

With me, it wasn't the casting that used to lose them. No, striking whilst pier fishing was a favourite way of washing them :D

Never really had any problems with them in the wind. If the bell is quite tight to the peg, they'll just 'rock' with the rod tip. The ones I've used only really sound if they are moved quickly i.e. when Mr. Cod comes knocking :D
