Evening carpers,me and a few lads are thinking of doing a french carp fishing trip next year..We were looking for a lake that wasn't too commercialised, had plenty of features to aim at and a water that wasn't too hard.We read about Pads lake near Rouen.Normandy and this seemed ideal.Has anyone fished this lake and would you recommend it.Also, does anyone know where it is in relation to Rouen as iv'e been looking on Google earth and can't find anything that resembles the map of the lake on the website, cheers.

Hiya Welly! Not heard of the lake but will ask around for you. Meantime how many are you? And how are you wanting to fish? Like drive and survive or full accommodation? And how little do you wish to pay??

And HOW long you say you looked??? It took me around 5 seconds to find this!!

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

Hi Chris, there will be upto 5 of us...Drive and survive...Usual carp setup(3 rods etc.)...The price on the Padslake site seems about right for a 5day trip...I didn't have any problem finding the website myself but it says the lake is just outside Rouen..Had a look on google earth for the lake but couldn't find anything that resembled the map of the lake shown on the website..It does look just right for us but was just wondering if any one on this site had fished Padslake and could recommend it..Were lookin for a scenic lake that doesn't get hammered(if there is such a thing nowadays) and a lake that isn't too hard(some of the group aint that experienced) but at the same time isn't a runs water full of doubles, just something in between with a stock of fish between mid 20's-50's.We also don't want to get pastered with poisson chat and down want to travel too far from calais. We also looked at the dreamlakes complex but it looked too 'commercialized' and a bit pricey.Maybe we're asking a bit much but we are open to suggestions if anyone can think of somewhere else but Padslake does sound about right,,Cheers

Don't know anything about Pads, but try Angling Lines - they act as agents for a load of lakes all over France with various different set-ups (from massive commercial waters, to recently dug snagless catching holes in the ground, to overgrown ancient private and exclusive estate lakes). Each lake has its own owners, so there's quite a variety in terms of quality of customer service and on-site services, but check the comments for each lake on the website - Angling Lines post all comments good and bad, so it's fairly easy to get a measure of the lake, its surroundings, its owners and its services.

Don't know if that helps.

Dream lakes is fine if you don't mind a carp fishing holiday camp, but it could never be described as 'natural, unspoilt or unpressured'. That said there aren't too many fishing venues in France that fulfill all your requirements but there are plenty of lovely places that should tick 9/10 boxes.

I know of ONE venue at least which would fit the bill!! BUT it just happens to be a water I have a hand in renting out!! It is actually TWO lakes neither are HUGE but both have fish in and are in a lovely spot and if you class HAMMERED as one guy fishing every two weeks on average?? The waters are HAMMERED!!

The lakes are just outside a place called Pouance, which is in Area 49 RIGHT at the top on the border with 44 and 53. Just found it on Google earth, it is at 47* 42' 13.34" N and 1* 08' 58.08" W. ( Where * = degrees!)

Cost for 5 anglers for a week WITH accommodation would be £750 for the week. The site has a cabin with four beds and kitchenette and shower/Toilet. But we also have another chalet on site which IS being refurbed as we speak!! IF you want more details give me a shout and I'll supply a land line for you. If you want something else I will be happy to ask about for you as I do know several other waters and am in touch with several oher water owners. Some though are NEW this season and so have not yet started advertising for next year.

Lakes are on a couple of acres and initial stock went in around 8 years ago to 40Lb. A dead female fish was found spawn bound in the margins two years ago and weighed just over the 50Lb mark. Fish that are caught are all over ten pounds and usually more closer to and over twenty pounds. I personally have fished the waters three times and smallest fish was 18Lb and largest was 23Lb. This was by simply "HOYING" a large lump of flake in on a free line and sitting back and enjoying the sun and the birds and the bees and the........... SUN!! :)
