you have been given some good starters i would look at e-bay some lads sell full set ups when they are upgrading there gear ,i would look for some new fishing mates i take great pleasure helping others catch good fish even give younger anglers my rod when i have a good fish on try mag inprove your coarse fishing for tips

You should always use an unhooking mat ditto for the large net. You should also buy those before you get the rods as there's no point fishing for carp that you then can't land safely and look after. You should however be able to get a full budget setup for 150 quid though.

What size un hooking mat and landing net should i be looking at as there is such a vast amount of sizes on the market, is it a case of the bigger the better.

The simple answer is probably yes. You can get quite big unhooking mats for little money - or pick up an old baby changing mat at, for example a car boot sale. To start with you can get by with a smaller sized landing net - say 28 or 30 inches (??), but just remember, that to lift out the fish safely, you need to collapse the arms down - some are easier than others to do this with.

 

I'm pretty certain I have an old landing net or three laying around the house - pm me if you're interested as I'm happy to post one to you FOC.
