A Grand Day Out!

I'm glad this is still going!

I think I would fish from dawn until just after lunchtime on the carp lake, and then move across to the coarse lake until dusk. If it's bright and warm I'd have one bait in the shallower water near cover and search around with the other two.

Knackering, but in a few weeks it'll all be over for another year :( I'd make the most of it!

If I were fit and healthy that's definitely what I'd do. However I only just manage to get through the session now, and then am good for nothing for several days after. In fact last week I had to miss out on visiting my grand-daughter.

One alternative would be to fish two half days a week, and this I used to just about be able to manage. I'm not sure I could do so now though, especially if it involved an early start.

However at the moment the pike are starting to feed early in the day. In fact the monster that found a snag did so just after 7.30.

If truth be told that's what's still haunting me!

Ah, in that case I'd get there early and fish the carp lake hard until mid afternoon and then call it a day. If that's where the bigger pike are (as opposed to the coarse lake), that's what I'd do!

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

Steve, at the fish in is it possible to fish for Pike and Perch in the Carp lake in the day and then have boilies on alarms out in the evening?

Thanks,

Simon

It does seem that they're bigger in the Carp Lake. Hopefully I'll soon find out! :D

Sorry, Simon, I don't even let my paying members fish for the pike. In fact I don't allow fish baits or lures on either lake. The only exception is on the rare occasions I take an experienced piker as a guest. This is to check the predator/prey ratio for fishery management purposes.

Unless I'm oversubscribed for the Fish-In (unlikely on past evidence), fishing will be restricted to the Coarse Lake.

No problem at all Steve. In fact that's good, as means I'll be lugging less kit around!

Cheers,
