Access Point Base Station ? i'm open to offers on a pair of tetra radios but thats the nearest i can get :D

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

 

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

I'm disappointed Chesters, I thought you'd be in there beta testing. :)

 

It's certainly be useful round my daughter's house where it's difficult to get a mobile phone signal, and if you turn around the call is dropped.

 

I guess that the only thing that has been holding up roll-out is that the phone companies have to work out a business model that will increase/protect revenue, or maybe stuff the competition.

 

Free/Cheaper mobile calls from within the home has to appeal to most of us, but will it stop the spread of Skype?

 

But it's going to start gnawing at bandwith and there's sure to be problems with interference from the guy next door's access point (cue Chesters!).

 

And then there's the applications that no one has really thought of yet.

we dont get signal round here being in the sticks and out of range of most mobile phones (standing on one leg in a 3ft circle in a particular part of the garden will get a dodgy one tick) no wireless pc connections either in the road and my next door neighbour is about 80 with two metal knees.

The femtocell incorporates the functionality of a typical base station but extends it to allow a simpler, self contained deployment; for example, a UMTS femtocell containing a Node B, RNC and GSN with Ethernet for backhaul. Although much attention is focussed on UMTS, the concept is applicable to all standards, including GSM,CDMA-2000, TD-SCDMA and WiMAX solutions.

 

Well that is certainly simple enough and would probably sound like a great idea if I understood any of it.

hmmm i already have a broadband line ,cant see it catching on ,no doupt you wont get real choice of who you subscribe to ,my fiver a year on my mobile wont make it worth while
