First, what I would like to do ,without setting up a server and purchasing a static IP, is look at purchasing space to upload pictures and videos to. I was looking at Gator hosting but does anyone have any experence hosting for this specific application?

Just curious as I have no experience at all.

Thanks for that Ian and Leon. I have a flickr account but its been ages since I looked at it. I could possible link them together. I'm a complete idiot when it comes to html and really don't have the time to learn. Templates for me I think. Here is what I have been looking at: http://www.hostgator.com/

Host gator has a pretty good reputation and for what you want they will cope just fine.

I usually read this site when looking at hosting.

I use clook which is more expensive but very reliable with excellent 24 hour customer support. If you put in a request they answer within minutes.

Im not quite sure why you are wanting to splash out money for what your after though. Photobucket would do the job with no problems.

Hi Glenn,

I'm looking into photobucket. I'm not too sure about the security of sites like them and youtube. I know you can apply passwords and share them out to friends and family. These days you can't be too careful. I now have a domain at hostgator but there seems to be an issue. They gave me my money back and I still don't have access- dns doesn't resolve yet either. I'll figure it out in the end.

On another note- Is that your kayak? I'm thinking about getting one. Kicking myself as someone posted theirs to be sold in November and I should have jumped on it.

Cheers

I would assume the security you will get on passworded accounts would be just as good as anything you could implement yourself.

With regard to the kayak. I havent bought one as yet mate but will be doing so this summer. The picture is of some of the guys who use my website. Kayak fishing is really taking off big style in my area at the moment. Theres a bit more info here if your interested :

Excellent thanks for the link! I like the look of the prowlers myself, but I'm torn between the 13 and elite.

I'm still waiting on an answer for the domain and I think you are correct about the security.

I think you'll find that they`re based in Florida, and not the UK

Jeff, Hostgator are good, I was with them before moving to Eltons server.

Excellent uptime, support and a friendly community on their forums.
