Are the Bass in?

Bin a way for a bit dealing with domestic distress! (mine)did ya miss me?! Anyway in desperate need of a bit of fishing, has anyone been fishing inshore in Lyme bay, is it worth a trip at the moment or is it yucky May water?

Dan? I didn`t miss you one bit!! Now that you feel better. Sussex and Kent have had a great start with bass this year! So where`s my 2nd fishing holiday of the year? A trip from Weymouth to Dartmouth for the week!!! I`m just hoping the Skerries and the ray-pits do their stuff!!

Angling papers always talk catches up? But Sussex and Kent have had unbelievable catches from the boats. Not many biggies, but lots of 3-5 pounders!! But? You had to be there on the day.

AH Well. Next Monday Weymouth, then`ce on to Dartmouth for the week.

Just hope all the high spots are not in the local pubs?

Good luck let us know how you get on, best fighting fish I saw caught on the Skerries took 45 mins to land and kept streaming line of the reel as it pulled downtide, the culprit? a Sainsburys carrier bag hope! you have better luck!

Eype is always worth a try.

Walk towards Seatown and be prepared to get cut off by the tide for a few hours (unless it's changed over the 30 years since I was last there).

The bass used to be within feet of the shore amongst the rocks (skin-diver's info).

Thanks Jim havent been to Eype for years, friends of my sisters used to run the Ships Lights cafe about 30 years ago. I fish from a small dinghy and can motor anywhere from beer to west bay in an hour or so so may try that far east (usually try Charmouth cos thats the waters I know best! and I launch from Lyme.

Will let u know how I get on just as soon as it stops raining and I get the last coat of paint on!
