short feeder rods

The Flying Tench

Recommended Posts

I recently had my Shakespeare 11' Onset Feeder rod nicked. No big deal, an old rod which I only really used to take on holiday cos, being 3 sections, it fits more easily in the back of the car. Having said that, it was a perfectly good rod, and adequate for all the types of feeder fishing I do.

So I'm hoping to replace it without spending much - eg there's one going for £8 on Ebay, but it's 'collect only', and I live in the wrong area. But I'm wondering if I shouldn't get a shorter rod, maybe 9', which would be useful in some swims with lots of vegetation.

Can anyone recommend a suitable rod? There's a John Wilson 9' Feeder rod on Ebay, but it only has 2 tips and also I think it's only 2 sections so it might not be quite short enough packed up for the back of my car. And there's always a risk buying a rod you haven't seen. I'd welcome any comments.

I have the TF Gear Compact Commercial Feeder Rod in the 8' version and about the only thing I don't like about it is the reel seat. Hard to beat if you can find one at the right price.

I think I paid just over forty quid for mine.
