Not sure how often John checks in. You can just edit the first post to remove the details. Your iteration is super crude, but being able to clip up to control casting distance and unclip on the fly if you hook a big fish is very useful.1 point

Conceptually, that's way better than clipping up. You might think about taking the post down and running it past some tackle manufacturers - reel makers first.1 point
