  1. But lots of people have multiple accounts, someone can get banned and then start a new account in anouther name. Its not hard to do, and can be done time after time.
  2. Surely if a account holder isnt upseting anyone by being rude or abusive then theres no harm done.
  3. QUOTE(Leon Roskilly @ Dec 30 2006, 01:35 PM) * Have a read through Steve, the importance of more and bigger fish is mentioned, and so is the need to develop species management plans for fish that anglers value etc. Without more bigger fish any stratergy will be meaningless.
  4. Thanks Steve, It takes me an age to read through Leons posts, part of my dislexia is falling asleep mid paragraph. SACN did e-mail it to me but I couldnt down load it for some reason, Leon then kindly copied it staight to a mail. I just hadnt read it so hadnt realised it was what all the fuss is about. New years resolution: read all my e-mails!
  5. Yep, know the problem. (and remember where your wife got the recipe rolleyes.gif ) In fact, even if I take raw prawns fishing I find I eat most of them myself. But to help Natty out, thread raw prawns on a long-shanked hook for chub, tench or perch. Roach will take cooked prawn pieces on smaller hooks. I have similar problems with cockles, so have to take enough for both me and the fish. you should try king rag worm that would solve your problem and help catch plenty of fish like carp, perch chub.
  6. Stavey, gill nets second hand are cheap, but they are only efective is used properly, any Tom Dick or Harry wouldnt be able to earn a living by just chucking them out. But used correctly (or wrongly from a RSA point of view) and coupled with modern navigation technollergy they can be deverstatingly efficient. Gill nets are far more selective than trawling that damages the very foundations of a fishery. Ban all trawling and just let gill nets be used out past the six mile limit and in a very short time we would be back inthe good ol days. regards.S.C
  7. I think this has been done before and all the salmon were caught be gill nets.
  8. ps on the golden mile issue i would like to ad that if anglers opposed this in their area fair enough ie, not wanted not needed then licenses and bag limits should not apply but in areas where it was asked for by their rsa, then i would have no objection to bag limits and a licenses in those areas. They are my feelings to Stavey! you get nout for nout mate!
  9. I have heard it wants to dictate what sort of hooks are used and what type of gloves are worn by anglers when un hooking fish. Is the draft copy available on-line? if so where can I find it?
  10. I was baught into angling by my Dad and spending every day I could on his charter boat or by a pond somwhere. Now days 9 times out of 10 I choose to fish alone to get time away from the real world. Angling for me has always ment freedome. And the thought of having my angling restricted without a restriction in commercial effort would take a lot of the magic out of it and we would have given our rights away for nothing.
  11. There is less all round pressure now due to a greatly reduced local fleet, but from what I gather a few of the next generation of fishermen have opted for small fast boats. The small fast boats just nip out to the upper reaches of the estuary at the right state of tide then zip back. These boats are drift netting for bass and mullet. They are targeting the same fish, as I would be if I were bothering. From the reports I have been getting this last two years have been bad for bass and many of the middle-sized boats have reverted to fixed or drifting trammel nets for soles. I think this is as most of the bass 36cm and over have been caught. Push commercial effort out a mile and my angling would soon recover.
  12. Hi challenge, I have worked as a commercial fisherman in my past and my farther has campaigned for restrictions on commercial effort for as long as I can remember, so I feel Im in a uniqu possision. Commercial effort has made a big difference in my area, only four years ago I was catching good numbers of 2lb to 5lb bass from the shore locally, now it just aint worth doing as the gill netters have had them all. What I dont like is the prospect of our right being given away freely without being used as a bargening tool. We will see restriction on our sport while commercial activity carries on as usual.
