  1. This makes a LOT of sense about the drivers round here!! Although quite a lot of people who come to this country can drive on their countries licence for 3 years before they have to take a UK test,.. I would like to know the percentage of people who actually bother to take the UK one. I'm guessing it's not many...
  2. Ahh, another local!! My brother-in-law lives in the Toll house so we fish at the bottom of the garden where it joins into one - I have fished the pits with him once before but we both blanked. I hear there are some real monster pike in there so I might take the spinning rod down for a go over the next few months. What do the other lakes fish like? I was a bit disappointed when I went, I had only just bought my years membership and only one lake was fishable! Hopefully the blanket weed will clear and I can have a fish on some of the others - any other places in the NPFA you can recommend I try?
  3. Thanks - they are great fighting fish, makes you wonder what the 100lb beasts in lake nasser? must fight like!! I was on 15lb mono on a Daiwa spinning rod (bought the previous day) so it was a good fight but I knew it was coming to daddy I normally use a little match rod with 4lb line on it, now that would have made things a bit more interesting!!
  4. No worries I haven't fished Linford yet but apparently there are some great fish in there - it was on a go-fishing/carp club type fishing programme on Sky not long ago. If you have a look in the Marle Inn (tackle shop on-site) there are pictures of some of the big ones in there, don't quote me on the weight but there is a catfish in there about 60lb!! I know you can get a day ticket for 2 rods for about £10 which i'll probably do once the weather picks up a bit..
  5. I've just read all of that and I am disgusted - who in their right mind gives a cat Pilchards instead of Salmon when it clearly states in the cat-koran that the Pilchard is a dirty fish. No wonder they started the card scam..
  6. Looking forward to this, enjoyed the last one so lets hope this one is as good - no stiklebacks this time!!
  7. Hi mate, Don't work at Aston do you!!? Is Tingrith the Toddington one? If so i'm not sure which one I fished name wise, but it was the bottom lake - I didn't realise at the time but we fished off the big peg, that we later found out is a disabled peg (no signs?) If you can fish Newport I would recommend you go out another few miles and join the Milton Keynes Angling Association which is £30 per year. I am a member of both the MK and Newport waters, I'm not saying the Newport one isn't worth it (especially with fish like that) but if I had to choose I would recommend you went for a MKAA book as there are soo many more places to fish. The Newport one is a few stretches of river and a complex with about 5 lakes on it. The MK one is huge in comparison with 11 lakes, 9 stretches of river, MILES of canal and a couple of bonus waters in Oxford and Felmersham. Because of it's size of MK it seems to be more organised as well, with regular matches and baliffs a plenty. For both of them you can pick up your membership from the Tackle shops in MK, I would recommend go-fishing in Wolverton (not far from Newport) as it seems to have all the latest stuff out and it's probably got biggest range of fishing stuff. There is a few others that do the membership to, Willards in Bradville and there is also one in Fenny Stratford. Here is a link to both of them for you to have a look at.. http://www.npfa.org.uk/ http://www.mkaa.co.uk/ If you want to know any more info just let me know and i'll do my best to help you out, Andy
  8. Just out of interest what was carp like, I read somewhere that in Japan it's quite common (no pun intended!) for them to be eaten. Then again, they do eat some weird stuff What would you liken it to?
  9. WOW! Thats really impressive, if I didn't know they were edited I would never have noticed

    perch

I used a fox 30lb wire trace last weekend and caught a few perch, most people I have spoken to also use wire when fishing for perch with pike around. I don't think it makes a difference to the perch, just covers you if something bigger wants a go..
  11. Thanks for the comments guys, it was a small jelly worm - it came from a DIY bass fishing lure kit, all the fish have a reflective piece of something (like the line in a tenner) going through them which gives them a real shine. The one in question was white with a yellow reflective bit...
