  1. I must be thick The multiple choice for the pro logic feeder rods doesn't incluce the correct answer?
  2. Where about did you fish on erewash? I live right next to it and have been fishing it once a week for a couple of months, Have been no where else yet as I have just got back into it.
  3. He's obviousy an extremely accident prone bloke. The clip with the outboard motor is bloody dangerous though, he's lucky he didn't lose a leg!!
  4. serach on google for a pdf - jpg converter - theres loads, and they are free I go here for all mine www.download.com Toby
  5. This thread is very interesting, and should be good reading for the lads that were on a previous thread asking why Tackle shop prices were slightly higher than internet shops. The obvious answer was given about rent and staff costs, but this just shows that actually seeing who your buyin off and speaking to a human face to face, may well be the better option!
  6. I emailed the department of transport to get clarification. This is the email they sent back Thank you for your enquiry. It is not illegal to drive wearing any particular kind of footwear - or indeed barefoot. The law only requires drivers to maintain proper control of a vehicle. Terry Deere Dept for Transport Road User Safety Branch 2 zone 2/11 Great Minster House 76 Marsham Street London SW1P 4DR. Tel: 020 7944 2046 Basically, exactly what has been said, but thought I'd post it up as it came from them. Cheers Toby
  7. Mine was bought for a Christmas present!! - So I will only get 3 months use out of it before I have to purchase another.
  8. Erm - What do you expect them to do, not enforce the waters then, or maybe get a megaphone and ask for a licence at a distance? I don't think I could disagree with you more - that statement is ridiculous. If it isnt perceived as a crime then people won't get a licence and no one would be worried about being caught. If no-one bought a licence, then who pays for the upkeep of the waters?
  9. What? The guy was fishing without a licence - Guilty! Who is to say who was using threatening behavoir? Who are you more likely to trust, someone who doesnt pay his licence and LIES to try and cover his tracks or the baliff? I know which I would go with
  10. 38 secs - but I got half them by just moving the mouse round rather than actually looking for them
  11. Why are these guys fishing for pike if they are scared of it? I have absolutely no idea how to handle a pike or unhook one, so would never go Pike fishing. If I ever decided I wanted to get into it, the first thing I would do is find an experienced pike angler to go with. I have actually been worried about getting a pike (have heard stories of fishing for roach and catching, the the pike taking that) but that seems so very rare that I havn't taken much thought about it. Maybe I sure go with my mate (who pike fish's a lot) just so I know what I'm doing. If I was ever on the bank and someone caught a pike and didnt know what to do with it, what could I do? - nothing. I would like to help a fish from being mistreated if ever that opportunity arose. Toby

  13. If I bought a jacket for £240 - I shouldnt have to treat it differently to any other Item of clothing. Spay it? - Wash it differently?, It has to be dried a certain way!! For £240 it should bloody well clean itself AND catch all the fish for me at that price!
  14. Anybody watch the final? If you did, I don't need to mention the match to you. If you didnt - all I can really say is WOW!! Adams was 6-0 up in sets (first to 7 to win). Nixon needed 7 sets on the trot to get the trophy. They come out after the break and nixon gets a set.....................then another.................then another -yep, you got it, 6-6 in sets, Adams has missed 4 attempts at taking the championship up to this point. Adams goes on to win the final 7-6 - then best final ever and an unbelievable comeback from runner up Nixon
  15. I was using the following Rod & Reel - 3lb main line - 18 hook - I was using twin maggot but switch to single and had more luck with that. I was fishing on the Erewash Canal (Long Eaton Lock - Sandiacre lock) I was fishing in a new swim where the balliff said they put in 1500 new Roach 2 weeks previous. I had zero luck there in 2 hours, so moved about 3 swims down to where this canal boat is moored (never seen it move) thought there may be some fish underneath but was fishing just off side to it. Maggott only - (little and often) thrown into the swim, had nothing for about half an hour and I just started catching these small chub - it got to the stage where I was casting and catching non stop. Didnt catch 1 roach (apart from the biggun I lost ) all day despite the balliff's advice. Its not a bad canal - the next stretch about a mile down is supposed to be better (Long Eaton Lock - Trent Lock) apparently they have carp up to 20lb and some big pike. I havn't fished down there yet as the stretch I was on today is 5 mins from my house. I didnt use a pole as I don't really know how - I was given this Pole/whip - not sure what it is - it has 4 sections that just flick out/ it has elastic on the end, but I've never got round to finding out how to use it. Toby
  16. Defo had sharp hooks, were brand spankers. Might of been the landing net jobbie but for the second I didnt even have it anywhere near in close. Might be just the fact that I need a bit of experience, I was getting a tad excited as I doing so well, (for once!!)
  17. Hi Wondered if you could help. I went fishing today on my local canal. I had the best day ever there catching loads & loads of fish - I got the right swim, the right depth, everything was perfect - except.....the following All day I was catching chub - loads of them, littleuns, but there were so many of the them, I was over the moon with my day. But on 2 occasions the following happened. I was getting shy bitess from the chub and catching on these all day, so when my float went under in a shot, I knew I had something a bit bigger, as I pulled the fish in to the bank, I had caught a pretty big Roach, I was pretty excited as this would of been my biggest fish yet from the canal. The only problem was that as soon as I got it in close, I lost the blighter. It managed to shake the hook and swam away. This also happened on one more occasion, when I got something bloody big!! (well, it felt like it anyway) I caught something and it was the first time I have ever had to really fight a fish, but, I didnt even get it in close, It bolted towards the reeds and I managed to stop it from doing that, but again threw the hook in open water. Now these 2 were not MASSIVE fish, but a lot bigger that the tiddlers I have been catching What am I doing wrong to keep losing the bigger fish? Am I not striking proberly from the start? Is the tackle I'm using no good (18 hooks)? Am I not bringing the fish in correctly? Thing is, I have to teach myself, as I have no-one to learn from, so I might just be pretty rubbish at striking and bringing them in. Hope so one can help Toby
  18. So if you don't need a license, can anyone one hire a boat of somekind then?
  19. Billy was at school this morning and the teacher asked all the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came out, fireman, policeman, salesman, chippy, captain of industry etc, but Billy was being uncharacteristically quiet and so the teacher asked him about his father. "My father is an exotic dancer in a gay club and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes if the offer is really good, he'll go out with a man, rent a cheap hotel room and let them sleep with him." The teacher quickly set the other children some work and took little Billy aside to ask him if that was really true. "No" said Billy, "He plays cricket for England but I was just too embarrassed to say.

  23. Good manners is the most important thing, as long as there is a polite hello, I don't think there is going to be any problem. I always take my line out and give them a "Good Afternoon" or whatever. But there are some that will not even acknowledge me which kinda pisses me off. With regards to the activity the boat is causing, I sometimes prefer a boat to come through. To stir things up about, kinda gives me an oppertunity to start afresh again. Toby
  24. I couldn't disagree more. All though I'm not sure if your taking the micheal or not. Certain animals in this country feed on fish for survival we anglers in general fish for pleasure, we are not fishing to feed ourselves. Let them be, they were here before us I'm sure.
