    Worms

The net is a mine of info and there seems to be a forum for everything Here's a wormery forum I found: http://www.recycleworks.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=5 If you've got space for one, and you don't need much space! why not start a wormery? Free bait and a good way of getting rid of everything from old newspapers to tea bags.
  2. Any tips for good recipes? I usually blend up trout pellets, sweetcorn and bread and then add sweetcorn, chopped boilies and hookbait samples to the blended mix. Cheers
  3. You'll probably have most of what you need to actually hook a carp. First item on your shopping list might be an unhooking mat and a large net. What gear have you got so far?
  4. I wonder how many novices and beginners are either put off fishing due to the cost of buying a full license for a months fishing or wing it and keep their fingers crossed for the time before the season starts and they get a years worth out of a years license fee?
  5. Best to check the rules for that Found this one while browsing around http://www.southlakeas.co.uk/rules.php # No member shall fish at any one time with more than 2 rods and lines, both to be attended, this to include marker rods. A third rod permit may be purchased allowing a 3rd rod to be used between 1st November and 31st March. How strange, they count a marker rod as one of the two rods you're allowed to use, though I doubt an EA bailiff would class a marker/spod rod as a rod used for fishing.
  6. thanks for the fast reply and the link
  7. Good on ya! I used to drive past Broadlands a lot back in the days when I sea fished and always wondered if it held any good fish. Is it a day ticket? Got a web address? I'm fishing again after a break of many years it's always nice to hear about lakes I 'know'. Looking forward to the pic
  8. Practice! Start with short casts, underarm casts to help you get the hang of when to release the line from the reel. Tie a smallish weight on the end and practice with that, less tangly than a float/shot etc. Got a back garden or any safe area nearby that doesn't have any trees?
  9. PETA? http://mtd.com/tasty/
  10. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Black-Carp-fishing-s...1QQcmdZViewItem Not me selling them, but I bought some for 59p starting price and they work well and are cheap. If that auction has ended before you read the post search ebay for "safety clips" hth
  11. I tried buying one copy of each mag I could find to see which I preferred and also to weigh up which had the best giveaway. The Mail and Times are emerging as my favourites, out on Tuesdays. They have more editorial in them than some of the glossies, although fewer shiney photos and I get the feeling the articles were written 'last week' rather than 'a couple of months ago' - much more up to date. http://www.greatmagazines.co.uk/store/disp...33984@677994196 can't comment on the mag, never found/bought/read this one but I own a couple of the Wychwood bite alarms (possibly same as the ones on offer) and while cheaper than some. work well and seem to be well built. let us know which mag you go for and if you spot any decent offerings of tempting free stuff in the meantime
  12. How did you get on at the weekend? If you're going to skip it, want to skip it in my direction? I'll pay the postage
  13. Down the road a couple of miles rather than in Cookham. When I've enough posts I'll pm you to pick your brain a bit about local spots
  14. Tried fishing the weir pool at Cookham on Tuesday.. had a few small roach / chubb. The Thames was flowing very quickly and the water was certainly very well oxygenated after steaming through the weir. Going to have to find a local stillwater for the next trip I think...
