  1. Hi Islwyn, yes forgot about the crates some have, also I think it would be difficult with some of the other attachments like the rod holders at the front of the cockpit! lots of issues here me thinks. Have you modified your yak extensively as others have done? I was out of Oxwich when I managed to capsize (where the lobster boats are anchored) talk about panic! I tried to get on side ways but it is surprising how high the yak sits in the water and after a struggle I finaly pulled myself aboard from the back. All these attachments to me are extra hazards so I dont think I'll bother, bait box and rod for me! They are arranging a SOT course down at Oxwich (August I think) details on the "Anglers Afloat" forum. I have put myself down for that one, £25:00 worth every penny! Brian.
  2. Hi, I'm from Swansea and paddle a Tarpon 100 enjoying what I considder some of the best coast line - THE GOWER PENINSULA!
  3. I too have studdied the videos of re entry and easiest way I find to get back on is from the rear, draging your self over the seat can be awkward but still easier than the side entry ( if like me. you'r arms are short!). I find Oxwich a great place to paddle, and a few species of fish to be found too! another nice little jaunt is to set off from Caswell and paddle to Pwll Du bay, not too far and if your lucky (as I was) you may see a seal or two. Not a shy animal and you can get quite close to them. Brian.
  4. Thinking of moving on to a bigger yak, any one want a red Tarpon 100? not exactly a torpedo on the water but v stable. Has one flush mount fitted, nice n clean but with usual scrapes on bottom £300.00 had a fair bit of fun on this but as said, time to move on. Bri.
  5. Pob hwyl Dai! Let the weather warm up a bit first mate and I'll be up for it, (I aint yet got the proper clothing) where abouts in Swansea are u, I'm in Tycoch.
  6. Hi Michael Wish I had done as much research as you, came into a bit of cash and I got my self a tarpon 100 only to find it's far too small for fishing from. Nice yak for messing about in but that's about all. Now I have to save a few shillings cos wot I want is a prowler! Happy days Brian.
  7. Great report mate, nice pic's, how I envy you gys!
  8. Hi to all you Swansea yakers! theres a new store opened in swansea ( swansea canoes ) Plasmarl ind est. Just been for a gander and theres loads of stuff, nice and friendly staff too! very helpful. I spoke to a guy called Glen, and no I aint gettin anything for this plug. Just might be of interest for any newcommers. Brian.
  9. Hey pollack, I missed out on quite a bit this last few weeks, (self employed and work commitments) eased off now thank god! west is only at the end of the motorway for me and sounds good.
  10. Hi Dai, sorry i aint replied sooner, lots going on at the mo. Which sit on top did you decide on mate? Been invited to paddle with some guys from west wales, if your up for it we will get something sorted.
  11. Having seen my mate's tarpon I just did a bit of research, it looked more manageable, and as I say I wanted something we all could use. Brian.
  12. Hi Gareth I just wondered if you had any views on this tarpon 100 I bought
