  1. Do you not think that reservoirs are the worst places to fish? i'm not sure why but its my least favourite sort of venue
  2. Thats what the nazi's thought about jews and blacks and look where that got them
  3. Do you not mean "hair"? , sick joke i know, but in such a sick world i suppose you have to make light out of these occurances in some way
  4. I know some fishermen like to get their maggots wired up by putting them in their mouth before putting them on the hook, but thats just taking it too far
  5. aye, but hen the fishings parp you dont want to be complacent and give a fish any miniscule chance of escaping lol
  6. I have just got back from a fishing trip in the lakes, it **** it down every day and i had dreadful sessions of fishing, to make matters worse, my friend who was on the fly, hooked me with a fly which was tied to a barbed hook, the hook went into my cheek about 2 cm under my eye and felt almost impossible to get out, although i managed it in the end, luckily the hook didn't cause to much damage with the barb on the way back out, it wasn't my friends fault, although he did feel bad, but i walked behind him while he was casting, happily oblivious to the danger and thought nothing of it as i'd never been in a predicament like this yet. I regretted that . Has anyone else had some fishing mishaps such as this one? ta The maxster

  8. A couple of questions regarding this story really 1, He is 56 years old and still lives with his Mother? 2, If he is 56, then how old is his Mother? 3, What do you expect when you allow people to have possession of guns in their houses? 4, If in America, you can own a gun and keep it in your household, what on earth would you use it for if it was illegal to to take out anyway? 5, if you have a gun in use on your property, whether in the garden or not, is it not legal to therefore use it? Are you able to use your gun in your house in America? 6, Do people know their rights of use for a gun if they decide to own one? 7, Did this poor fella know it was illegal to use his gun in his garden? (if not, then perhapos he hadn't committed an offence at all, you can't commit a crime if you do not realise that what you are doing is actually a crime. However whther this crime is petty or not is too be argued.) I feel for the poor kid, i know if i had problems with electrical equipment and had possession of an offensive weapon, i wouldn't hesitate to use it , overall this is just a snippet of the sort of crazyness that occurs in the United States of Ass due to their careless approach to the subject of guns, which all in all, are designed to kill other humans. The funniest story i absolutely revelled in was when dick chaney nearly blew his lawer's head on a shooting trip...excuse: "i thought he was a bird2........yeah dick
  9. I was wondering, with all the online shopping at cheap prices and large variety of equipment, whether you think small tackle shops will stand the test of time in the years to come. I know many larger ones probably would, such as the ones which deal in animal care products and pets e.t.c, but can you all really see us being able to nip down to the local tackle shop for our bait, in say, more than 10 years? I was thinking it would be an ideal venture for someone who is an avid fan of fishing, however, has the ass not fallen out of the business now?
  10. Well iv'e just been to the tackle shop and got myself a range of spiners and lures that will hopefully get me through the few days of fishing in Ullswater next week. Also picked up some forceps, wire traces and some 8lb line. So all in all i think i'm pretty much set and ready now. Thanks to anyone who helped me with my enquiries last week. Are there any last tips you can give me for the fishing i'll be doing? (Baring in mind iv'e never spinner fished in my life before ) Cheers Maxwell Tobias Aldridge
  11. How do all? Has anybody fished Ullswater by any chance? if so, how big can i expect my catches to be and what are the best flies and tactics to use?
  12. This is good news to me mark as i'm going fly fishing/spinningng in Ulswater next week in fact, i'd like to know how big the fish can get to there. I know there are perch and brown trout but i don't know to what sizes. loooking forward to it though as iv'e never fished in the lakes before and i am camping very close to the waters.
  13. I cracked a ring of these time wasting jokers on myspace pretendiong to be arctic monkeys. each of the band members had a profile made by someone who obviously wasn't them because they wrote in American lingo, so i thought i'd spoil the party and send them all wall comments saying, "everybody, stop wasting your time, these are not the real arctic monkeys", they all blocked me . The sad thing is, there are still young people on every corner of the earth sill wasting their time on these geeks, also, the "band members", leave messages giving each other **** saying they're leaving the band, and then all the little girls go crying to them. Funny in a way i suppose for a few, but harmfull to a lot of others
  14. Wait a sec, you're not that geezer out of day ticket are you? Classic
  15. Whats the point in fishing if your going to want the fish to hook itslef, a rod to strike for you and a reel to reel in the fish itself. Where do you as an angler actually come into the equation? You mite as well turn up to the place, set up and bugger off home
  16. well o.k, thats pike pretty much out of the equation then , not that i'm bothered to be completely honest, it would just mean that i would have to tackle up to a point whree if i caught a perch or trout there would'nt be much of a fight. Just out of interest though, how big can the perch and trout get in Ullswater? and what breaking strain of line should i use? would 4lb be o.k?
  17. [one thing i would advise though is get someone to take you out locally and show em how to handle pike before you go yourself where are you from? Darwen, not far from bolton in Lancashire
  18. Catching stickleback with a little net attached what seemed to be a piece of bamboo , classic times, and some monsterous catches. I'm thinking about this now and it makes me feel old..i'm 20. Fishing really reminds you how you are, tut tut.
  19. Would the ground bait not dry up anyway and justy end up being at square one again? , also, i don't understand what the reason for wanting to prepare the goundbait before hand is lol, its not an harduos task and it takes a few minutes and will be fresh. I'd also like to add on top of that, that when mixing ground bait, you should really only use the water found at that particular fishery, taking in tap water or bottled water can effect the living condtions and the overall effectivenes of the groundbait (apparently, but i dont know how true this is )
  20. I am off up to Ullwater in the Lake district for a few days next week in search of brown trout, perch and perhaps the odd pike maybe. I would like to know where i could get an assortment of lures and spinners to cover any eventualities from and where i could get these at a reasonable price?
  21. well no, i hadn't really thought of that, pike wern't in the plan, i dont know these waters too well, but i see your point, there is a high probability that if i'm catching perch on the lures e.t.c i'll be catching pike, i mite have to look into that arena as well then, more £££'s lol
  22. How do people? I'm off to the lakes next week doing some game and predator fishing, iv'e never been predator fishing as such using lures and spinners e.t.c, but i'm hoping to get quite a bit in during those few days in ullswater. Does anyone know where i can get a decent starters rod and a few lures and spinners e.t.c for relatively cheap prices? I've already got a spinning reel so i'm good on that front
  23. I think the way in which different fishing programmes are layed out and produced will prevail over the fact that it has all been done before, after all, fishing is a repetative sport really when you think about it, you may catch the odd monster or rarity, but apart from that, much of it could be seen as being the same. You can make anything sound boring by using certain wording, but in the end, if you like fishing, you like anything and everything to do with it. I know that if it was a toss between watching the shitty soaps that we are plagued with every night of the week and watching Matt hayes and Mick, or John Wilson, then i'd be tuned into discovery home and leisure no messing , i cant believe that people will take the time out to slag this venture off, if you like it, you like it...... if it fails, it fails, i can't see the harm
  24. Cheers for that Emma Two, thats a lot of helping info there. I'll just have to revise and remember it all now lol. Can't wait to give that place a go, never fished such an expanse of water before and never caught on a lure or spinner yet so it should be pretty exciting. The best thing is that we are going for 3 days and camping almost on the banks by the sounds of it on surrounding camp sites. I can see a lot of fishing hours being put in so i'm sure i will catch something. We are also using flies which should be fun which i have some experience with so that should come up trumps. It's the lure fishing that i'm most looking forward to. You sound like a fishermans dream wife
