  1. Hello Again Alan, Alan, you're obviously a nice bloke & all that good stuff, even though you live on the wrong side of the Pennines. I would love to meet up with you but in view of the fact that I've got a good motor I wonder if you lot have got decent roads over there yet? Another thing, I'm told that some from 'The Land of Civilization, Clean Living & Good Cricket' [Yorkees!] have been known to vanish when they come over there. True or false? Regards, WJD
  2. Hello Phil, You've got me interested if only because there's so few good COARSE fishing venues in the north East & I'm wondering which closed pond(s) you are referring to. Please let me know. Regards, Herutilus.
  3. Hello Again Alan, Thank you for the fishing advice, very much appreciated it is, as ever. Now, here's another question, a very important question in fact. I ask if you have any phone numbers whereby I can contact some of Mr Tiger Woods 'loose women'? Call them what you will, but they sure as Gordon Brown's a prat beat the underpants on what's on offer around here. An early response would be appreciated. Regards sincero, The Yorkshire Puddin'.
  4. Hello Alan, it's WJD once again & he's looking for some free advice. 1] Is there a difference between 'a cast' & 'a tippet'? 2] Would one encounter a problem using, say, a DT8 rated line on a rod which is rated at DT6? A theoritical question this, I'm just curious. 3] How does one attach a cast/leader to the main line. In days gone by I used to tie a small knot on the end of the main line, tie a loop in the cast then loop it over the main line knot. Sounds a bit basic to me, what do you advise. Hoping you can assist. WJD
  5. Hello Alan, Thank you for the 'tight-fisted Tyke' comment, a real goodun is that, however, you are correct fishes backsides don't come anywhere near!! Also, in terms of your treatise wherein you slagged off 'political correctness', I couldn't agree more. Only one thing, being of the construction industry & thus some what naive, you have me puzzled over your use of the word 'turd'. Please explain it's meaning? Now to less serious matters. You kindly gave me some 'much appreciated' advice re. fly fishing lines & you were right re. Ron T & Shakespeare stuff. Now, I seek your advice once again, what is and intermediate fly line, somwhere twixt a 'wet' & a 'dry' perhaps? Please let me know what you think. Regards, WJD
  6. Alan, I cannot thank you enough for your invaluable advice . Only one thing wrong there is, Yorkshire is the branch at the top of the tree. As the man said; bigger, better, nicer. Sorry! Herutilus
  7. Have read with interest, great interest, you question regarding seat boxes. Now, before I formally commit myself I sincerely hope that I'm not responding to a leg pull, or as they say in my beloved North East England, a p**s take?
  8. Hello People, I'm a wee bit puzzled regarding the term 'skimmer'. I'm told the name applies to small bream, but I seek a second opinion. Also, how & where did the nick-name originate? Please advise. Heritulus
