Greetings, Apolgies y'all if this question has been asked before. I've been given two small tubs of coarse fishing paste-bait. To apply same I assume that one simply extracts a tad from the tub, then 'works it' between one's fingers then applies it to the hook by 'pressing it firmly all around'? Have I got the process right? Greetings Fellow Members, This 'thing' regarding middle lane hogging on motorways has been going for years. But there's one aspect of it all that has always puzzled me, as follows:- If one stays in the nearside lane one can have problems with slow moving traffic, so one has to pull out into the middle lane to overtake the slower traffic. But, if there are quite a few slower drivers in the left lane, one can be regularly 'weaving' or pulling out & then pulling in to avoild being called a 'middle lane hogger'. Now, I suggest that this constant lane changing is not good 'safety-wise', not good at all. So what's the problem if the law-abiding stay in the middle lane & in so doing stay within the 70 mph limit thus letting the posers & lunatics burn-up the outside lane like they do now? Personally I don't see what the problem/debate is all about. Regards, Mr H.

Greetings y'all, We have here a five year old Ford Fusion & one of the rear stop-light bulbs is kaput. Now, I'm a half-handy lad and I spent approx. 30 minutes yesterday [entirely without success I hasten to add!!] trying to fit the replacement bulb. It seem that one has to remove the complete light-cluster in order to install a new bulb, but how on earth does one get the light fitting/cluster out? Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions? In consideration of recent events they should have their 'charitable status' removed immediatley, it might them think a bit before they spend big-money in taking some hunt 'terrier-men' to court only to see the so-called perpertrators fined next to nothing. Like everything and everyone 'Of The Left' the RSPCA are a total waste of time and money, far too much influence they have in todays society! The RSPCA, and the RSPB, not worth the time & trouble! Hello Dave, It's not the first time the questiosn has been asked (i.e) why did the Germans not design/use a heavy (strategic) bomber. The specific reason the Germans did not have 'a heavy' early in the war was because the Luftwaffe's primary task was to support the now in-famous 'blitzkreig' form of warfare (i.e) using fast moving armour with supporting infantry (known as panzer grenadiers later in the war) thus the Luftwaffe throughout the war was used in a tactical role. I believe later in war they designed an aircraft that could, in theory, reach the east coast of America. It could have been jet-propelled, looked away ahead of its time, but it never got past the prototype stage. The nearest they got to a piston engined 'heavy bomber' was the dreaded Focke-Wulf Condor, or Kondor. However, this 'started-off' as a civil airliner & was adapted, with considerable success, to the anti-shipping role. It was used with great effect against our people on the Russian convoys, ditto the Battle of The Atlantic. The Kondor has one great weakness, there was a design fault where the fuselage 'joined' the tail assembly. Here the construction was weak & it was not umknown for the 'tail bit' to break-off, particularly when the plane was under manoevering (?) stresses and/or attack by fighters. Regards, H.

Greetings, as per I've just finished reading Friday's 'Times 2' supplement [this being the 'proper' Times daily supplement] and there's a intriguing publicity photo on the front page. There's a publicity photo of a man & woman [both good-looking needless to say] & each is holding a heavy calibre automatic pistol. My question - On each of th pistols, above the hand-grip, there's a series of vertical marks, serration's if you will, over a length of approx. 40 mm. For a want of a better description, the marks seem to be ideal for 'striking a match on'. Over the years I've often noticed these marks on a great number of automatic pistols featured in television series, anyone know what they're for? Regards, H.

Greetings, You must remember that the government 'took-on' the postal workers pension fund deficit [£13 billion I believe it was?] this being created by years of Royal Mail over-staffing, bad [some would say 'appalling'] non-management of the pension scheme, early-retirement hand-outs these, in part, to reduce the size of the work force, inadequate employer/employee pension contributions & all the rest. Cameron & company want the Royal Mail 'books' to look healthy prior to privatisation, this is probably one reason you've had to pay double. However, you could try anothe post office next time, I often get the impression when using some of the post-offices around here that some of the counter staff haven't got the proverbial clue? Greetings Mr NATRU, You mention the re-emergence of gudgeon in and around the River Trent. You've been lucky mate, 'cos you're going to sorry, very sorry, if they ever re-establish themselves!! I do my fishing in the north of England; gudgeon, we've got millions of them. Using the anglers favourite, maggot, is a total waste of time, they'll be having-it-off whatever depth you fish. Sometimes just before I pack-up to leave I put a red maggot on the hook & wait, seconds, for a gudgeon to take to take it, they never miss! Then I watch the float moving madly around 'all over the place' for few moments before I unhook the twerp & return it to the water. Mind you, I got lucky once last year. Before packing in I duly put the maggot onto the hook & in it went, no more that 5 or 6 feet out. Off went the float, as per, but in a big way! To cut a longish story short, a few minutes later I landed a 7lb mirror carp. The bloke on the next peg said, "You caught that on maggot"! In terms of gudgeon & the others, as the old saying will have it "Be careful what you wish for". Happy days for all that. Regards, Mr H

Greetings, I've been reading the latest issue of IYCF & having done so I have questions which I'm sure the resident AN experts will be able to answer. 1] Going through the magazine 'for sale' pages I've noticed, & not for the first time' that such as Cheshire Fishing & others offer 'bait riddles & trays' for sale. Question - I've never seen anyone 'on bank' using one of these, but they could be doing so at home before fishing, so what does one riddle & why? Could be they are used to remove the maize content of maggot? 2] I often use 3mm pellets, carp pellets & those for trout. However, for the first time there's mention in an IYCF article suggesting that one should soak the pellets for 15 to 20 minutes. strain-off the water, then leave the soaked pellets for up to 60 minutes before use. Is this process really necessary or can one use the pellets 'straight out of the bag' so to speak? Please advise/comment/ Regards, Heritulus

Hello Andrew, No problem in getting the heating system water out, I've done it before & I use a compressor making sure the boiler is isolated & the drain-cocks are open before I start. And, I hear what you say regarding messing around, good advice.
