Hi, I've just picked up mint condition speedia with a line guard. How does one cast a ledger with the centrepin? Do I need to used the wallace cast as in trotting, or can I just cast straight off the drum? Cheers

Hi, I've found this thread really useful. Just ordered a rover from ebay so will let you know what it's like when it arrives. Hoping to use it on the Dane in Cheshire for Chub and Barbel, if it was intended to be an avon type rod then surely it would be ok for ledgering? Been having a really bad time recently on ebay with people listing cane rods as being in good condition - only to find they are complete dogs when they arrive. I've had an octopus octofloat deluxe which is back on there now for parts, and a latter day Allcocks lucky strike for £100 which is a complete mess. It really is a gamble, but living in Manchester there's not too many vintage tackle fairs about
