  1. I'm guessing my Google earth wasn't more than a mile off? I found the minnnows to be an absolute nightmare the other week, most of the time my float moved no more than a few feet before hooking one no matter where in the river I cast!
  2. I only drink mine with a liberal dash of Mr Daniels finest
  3. My Google earth app is clearly isnt working properly!
  4. 25 Brimpton road? Wish I could get out this weekend but no chance got far too much to do Good luck mate!
  5. It is unfortunate but that's is human nature I guess, the internet is not a private place, talking to anglers on the bank and going out and fishing will provide you with far more. For example I was recently fishing a local weirpool that is well known to hold very large barbel and carp, information on 'hotspots' bait etc. is pretty much non existent on the net yet a quick chat with 2 other anglers and I had more info than months of searching the internet. These anglers most certainly wouldn't have put that on the internet for all to see but face to face most are more than happy to give a few pointers.
  6. The problem is, when someone catches a large fish and goes public with it the glory hunters will do anything they can to catch that fish at a higher weight. The end result is a circus of bivvys on the stretch/lake the fish was caught from and massive pressure on the fish. A lot of clubs have a publicity ban to stop this happening and I can perfectly understand it, how would you feel if you caught a 40lb pike and put a pic in the weekly rag and 2 weeks later it was washed up dead through being chased by 'fishermen' only out for the glory?
  7. I think it's probably easier and safer just to get it delivered top home than jump through health and safety hoops! To start off with it will mainly be thin sheet/exhausts etc. so nothing near 3mm just yet. I was going to buy a MIG but I like the aesthetics of TIG welds and I like the challenge of learning something new! May end up with a couple of bottles of gas in the end then, can't remember off the top of my head the thickness of the locost frame.
  8. It's not a package as such, just ordering it from the same place, its an 8.3ltr pure argon cylinder. Out of interest how much does it work out to buy from BOC? Done quite a bit of welding in a previous job but never TIG so going to be doing ALOT of practice with the aim of a career change eventually (and a locost kit car build from scratch ) Will be welding mild and stainless as an ac/dc tig was too far out of my price range and I didnt fancy taking a punt on an un warranted chinese one on ebay!
  9. I am buying a welder+bottle of gas (argon) and getting it delivered, I can't seem to find whether I can take it home by car (only found rules and guidelines for commercial not private use) if I get it delivered to work or if I would be best asking the other half to stay in and wait for it to be delivered at home. Can anyone shed any light on this?
  10. Haha major fail....copied the link straight from someone's post on facebook
  11. Looks like it could be very short lived if the forecasters are to be believed http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2039418/UK-weather-Snow-forecast-parts-Britain-early-October.html
  12. Put in a lot of short sessions there and not had a barbel, used to pull 5-6 out in a couple of hour evening session, quite worrying the lack of small barbel in the nursery. Did have a small Grayling as well as the chub the other day
  13. That's my excuse for blanking today then... Had high hopes after a 3lb chub from there the other day!
  14. Ah I didn't realise it was a sluice at the top thought it just flowed over, was bit of a shock when I turned round to see the dry gravel I put my landing net on now under water!
  15. Fished a few hours on the NAA stretch at Hambridge today, the level was similar to Thursday's level (maybe an inch up) however the level rose by around 3-4 inches in the hour I was fishing nearly leaving me stranded mid river (only had wellies on) It didn't rain in this time and as it is fed from the canal I figured it must be caused by a lock upstream? The river really started pushing through as I moved downstream, never seen this happen before in such a short space of time with no obvious cause. Ps... There is a drennan loafer and a size 10 drennan super specialist with assorted split shot going free to whoever rescues it from the tree on the opposite bank
  16. You try to blame Eastern Europeans in your first post, I fail to see how a small population taking for the pot can wipe out a whole river, if this is the case then our rivers would have been devoid of life up until this century when taking coarse fish for the pot was no longer widespread. I guess there is no fishing left in Poland as they will have systematically wiped out their whole country of fish. It is easy to blame ee's, cormorants, otters etc. But cormorants and otters are natural predators and EE's surely can't make that much of an impact.
  17. Does anyone on here have one of the above? Just bought one cheap for spares or repairs, narrowed down the fault just need to know what parts are missing from the circuit board

  19. Thanks Nick just started it in safe mode, it didnt occur to me I use the Nectar toolbar so could be that causing it
  20. Firefox is completely crashing on me 20-30 times a day, I have re-installed it, running the current version.... now I'm at a loss, I have the log from when it crashes if anyone can read it and know whats going on? It's driving me mad!
  21. Looks like the fishing is picking up a bit now! Had a 3lb chub from between the trees at Hambridge last night
  22. I prefer firefox to IE but recently switched computers at work as I needed an RS232 port on my machine, Firefox crashes on average 20-30 times a day! Slowly driving me mad now, its up to date, been re-installed etc. but keeps doing it, switched to IE for a day but soon realised why I don't use it! Any ideas on what could be up with it?
  23. Cracking fish, far more impressive looking than a large carp IMO http://www.gofishing.co.uk/Angling-Times/Section/News--Catches/General-News/Monster-20lb-bream-taken/

    8 September

They must follow me then, all I seem to catch when fishing maggot! I'm pretty sure we would have been fishing the same bit too Rusty (the one we discussed the other day) no matter if I fished nearside, farside or straight down the middle the minnows were there!
