  1. I have fished both, all I caught at bc was a few skimmers, the scenery is nicer (despite being showered with shot all day) have fished BG many times due to being 'easy' plus only a fiver for the day for two rods. Sleeper rod down the margin and fish the surface too Edit: Also look at Frobury farm in kingsclere, top lake is somewhat of a runs water and the most picturesque, don't venture any further if you like scenery though
  2. Thanks vagabond, will hopefully have some luck!
  3. A mixture of sugar and water will work a treat. Only joking, any insect repellant with deet in works well, don't be fooled into thinking you have to buy the most expensive for it to work I use (when I remember to) a roll on one from poundland (the bottle is green) and it works very well.
  4. Leona Lewis- bleeding love
  5. Salt n Pepper- push it The verve- the drugs don't work Swedish house mafia- Don't you worry child Johnny Cash- Ring of fire (too much?)
  6. Thanks for your advice heading down there tomorrow so hopefully can persuade the other half on a few hours tomorrow evening
  7. Pretty exciting fishing then, out of interest how deep is the water you are fishing?
  8. Bishops green using surface baits will bag you a few hard fighting commons up to mid doubles
  9. I was shown to use a lead clip but with the tail only lightly pushed on so it comes off on the take, it will put enough pressure on to set the hook but gets rid of having a lead swinging round during the fight Edit: Personally havn't ever caught on a zig myself but have been fishing with a couple of people who have using the above method
  10. Going down to Hastings for a few days, would spinning from the beach/groynes be productive for bass? Not done any beach fishing since we moved back up here 12 years ago! Don't really want to spend out on gear that won't get used (or rather the future Mrs V would rather I didn't spend any more on fishing stuff) so just thinking of taking my 9' spinning rod, a reel loaded with 12lb mono and my box of lures and spinners (basically my perch fishing gear) and getting out for a few hours one evening while catching the last of the sun.
  11. My bad, he has a writing style and antagonistic behaviour very similar to someone who did get banned. He seemed like a nice book when I spoke to him about BAA, shame his forum manner isn't the same as his pm manner I think many would see him in a different light tbh. Maybe not starting pointless arguments such as the one in this thread would help!
  12. http://m.youtube.com/index?&desktop_uri=%2F Haha this popped to mind after reading that post

    Catch up

Great results mate, never had any luck on that lake but would love to catch one of those tench on the float!
  14. Interesting phone, the bite is still there as a lump under the skin but very little visable on the surface, as Andy said probably just a mozzy. I tend to avoid doctors as much as possible, my last visit for sleep issues escalated to an apnea caused by an undeveloped hard pallate. Waiting for a bone graft and constructive surgery to fix it now
  15. Well done for sticking it out, well worth it
  16. My bad I forgot tememan and redfin. I think a sweepstake sounds like a good idea, although not too hard its easy to spot a mile off, picked him out on two other forums within 2 posts! What does the winner get?
  17. That would make sense as surely there is no way you could spend the whole day trotting different swims throughout a stretch and not encounter any fish (although seemingly I have done this many times being a lesser angler haha) the question is, how to overcome this or just accept that some days they will just not feed on what you are presenting? On a side note it would appear there has been a sudden outbreak of myxomatosis RIP Rabbit the 4th
  18. The kids looked very confused when I stood up and started doing that! Its interesting to see different opinions and reasons for why they have it a certain way. I don't think I could switch now its become a kind of second nature when I pick up my float rod
  19. Didn't think it would be long before he showed up again, pretty sure he just got banned from BFW forum for being a twofoottwat over there too. Anyways back on topic, you saying there were pretty much ignoring your bait makes me wonder how often you could be in the right place trotting bait past fish that just aren't interested?
  20. In a word, yes. In the time that I have been fishing I can only recall one or two Children/teenagers float fishing. Edit: In fact I can't remember the last time I saw anyone float fishing other than myself!

    Oh so close

I use drennan red maggot hooks for most if not all of my trotting and have never had an issue with trout and chub to 3-4lb, although never until then hooked a decent barbel trotting. I will be changing my hook pattern for when there is a possibility of hooking one now though. Thanks for the advice! I was half expecting a jibe about being a 'lesser off the top' angler causing me to lose it
  22. Haha don't doubt that for a second, you can use my blog as reference to that argument!
  23. Care to point us in the direction of web based 'proof' to back it up then as 'I need to look harder' And if you would care to read my post again I didn't say that they were ridding themselves of lice did I? I said there were more references to that and none (as far as I can see) to back up your claims. Anyway I can see where this thread is going so I'm leaving it at that, wonder how long this username will last
  24. Which way do you have your line coming off your 'pin? I have mine coming from the top as this feels more comfortable but have just seen on Rustys pic of his mini barbel he has his coming from the bottom? Is there any difference other than what feels right to you?
  25. No reference to fish 'scraping on rocks to get minerals' on google but plenty of references to them doing it to rid themselves of lice etc. Funny you should say that Tigger, I thought that too.
