I spent a week at the Ramada Gulf View, in Clearwater. Fished alot just an arms length from the pool bar. (I was not fishing in the pool!!!!) I caught a few bits, but one fish did get me going. It was a Red fish(!)of about 6-7lbs. Told the guy at the bait shop where I was buying my live shrimp (more like super king prawns!!) from, &he said he would have given me $35 for it..... I never caught another Red fish. Maybe next time, eh??

Hiya Folks, I've just joined the Bay Malyon Angling Club. I was wandering if there is anyone reading this, if you could put me onto one of their waters, as a sort of "Christening", for my first visit. I would love to know as much about their two river Dane stretches as possible. Thanks for your time. Dave Holmes

On a hot summers day, sat by the river. Fishing the depths, with my Avon quiver. Watching my tip, for a signal to strike. Wishing & hopeing, for a Barbel to bite. Out of the blue, like a hawk in flight. The tip goes round, & bends to the right. I lift my rod, with slight antissipation. A Barbel double, is my inspiration. The fish is on, & making a right fuss. A double Barbel? More like a double buss! Pulling off line, my reel with set clutch. "Let it be a double, I've tried so much". It fights & fights, like a bull to a Matador. Suddenly there she is, weighing in at 10-4. My personal best broken, my wish came true. One of these days, my friend, it'll happen to you. For my dear friend, Chris f. Berry.

Yes it would be worth traveling the extra miles to the river Swale. The Bull Stretch in Topcliffe is full of big barbel & chub.(10-4 is my personal best barbel, 6-2 chub, both caught from the above. It is a day ticket water.(£5-6) Good luck!
