  1. Bet you'd roll over for a belly rub Rod... Renrag
  2. Not to mention a Hip Flask of Whiskey on those long cold, winters night sessions for cod off the beach. Mmmm, Hot Toddy! Renrag
  3. Nope, its WOMAN stripper! Now do you see the error of your ways? Even if you won't drink it, she probably will! Renrag
  4. Just don't try to make all 3 bobbins on the same night you drink the wine. You end up with a headache AND crap bobbins. Renrag
  5. Cork from a wine bottle. It may take many bottles of wine to find one suitable for the purpose but its worth the effort Insert womens hairpin/clip thingy into the top, this bit attaches it to your line. Ram a snap-link and swivel into bottom (of the cork). This serves a dual purpose, you can attach a line/cord to it (remember to attach it to your rod rest/pod/stick) and also to change the weight/resistance by clipping on leads, very handy for varying tides on a river during any one session. Wrap cork in PTFE tape for better visibility. You can also attach a light very easily either with tape, glue, whipping on a holder or drilling into the cork itself and creating a recess for said light. Total Estimated Cost- £11 £10 for 3x bottles of wine. Drink responsibly, wait until you get home before opening. £1 for ptfe tape from B&Q or can be found in a random drawer you swear you never put it in. Hairclip is usually free from said woman (usually wife/girlfriend but your mum can also be used) Snap Link Swivel found rattling around in bottom of tackle box. Cord usually consists of whatever line you have lying around. Renrag
  6. Ahh yes, the 'distinctive' aroma of 'landing net a la bream' after a night left in the car and the following, usually very hot, day. Not to mention the way your faces scrunches up, reminiscent of a cats bottom, when you open the door. I usually end up bleaching the bugger at work... Renrag
  7. I've only got a problem with the 'Militant Veggies' or 'Radish Nazis' as I usually refer to them, or those that use vegetarianism as an issue of greater morality over me. I eat loads of meat because I like it. I do however rarely eat fish as I don't really like the taste of a lot of them. I once ate a grapefruit for breakfast. Despite our diet we can neither efficiently process raw meat, only cooked and also have difficulty digesting plant matter. If you can lead a healthy and happy life without meat then I've no quarrel with you and it means more for me, but if you are a card carrying 'Cucumber Colonel' spouting 'thou shalt not eateth meateth' then I shall heartily beat you with my sausage. Renrag
  8. Nope, rarely watch TV 'cept Top Gear and Mythbusters lol. I just didn't want to confuddle the other nationalities on the site, hence the mention of Jerky too. Renrag
  9. Bugger, I put cake twice. Ooops! Can you have too much cake tho? Renrag
  10. Personally I like eating dead animals and rarely fish without a pepperami or bag of pork scratchings in my pocket (or several). What's your favourite? Renrag
  11. Nice one Newt, thanks for that. I know I couldn't do what they do. I occasionally help out but not nearly enough to make a difference. Renrag
  12. Just a link to the Wildlife Rescue Center my Dad and Stepmum run in Hemsby, Norfolk. http://foxylodge.yolasite.com/ Renrag
  13. I'd take heed of Ken, whigwood. Welcome all the same. I wonder what Cormorant tastes like? Not seen so many on the Broads in recent years and the fishing still appears to be good so the food source is still there. Have to admit I like seeing more Otters about. I'd honestly throttle anyone who tried to kill one in its natural habitat. As for the anti's... Personally I think they are a good advert to continue eating meat and fish, it obviously damages the brain living on leaf litter alone. FYI there is always a vegetarian option on offer for guests at my house, you can **** Off! Renrag
  14. Might explain my Pepperami addiction. Went to the local GOSS (get off spicy sausages) clinic and the most commonly affected are anglers... There is no known cure and I'm buggered if I'm going cold turkey, its too dry... On topic, you have nothing to worry about. Just open a window or 2 a crack at night and many will find their own way out. For the rest, you can try new and exciting methods of 'winged minion dispatch'. Fun for the whole family. Personal fave is the elastic band and folded bit of paper, you need both stealth and accuracy but its worth it. Sort of a very cost effective clay shoot... Can be messy mind. Renrag
  15. Heh heh, I find it easy to ignore Carp, I just try to catch them... I find it comical that fish are named but it only reveals our senti(mental) nature. I called a pet Perch of mine Jaws coz it bit me (well gummed my finger to within an inch of it life) and its inevitable that somewhat confined and recognisable fish (such as Two Tone) are caught repeatedly and named. On topic, I don't own scales or a keepnet. I'm sometimes curious as to what some of my better fish weigh but ultimately just happy that they swim off afterwards to get bigger. Renrag
  16. Its certainly plausible, especially where the berries are used in the absence of the bushes but I would hazard a guess that on waters bordered by them, they knowingly seek them as a foodsource, especially due to their high energy content. Might try to work it out when I next keep them. Renrag
  17. If you deem your quarry is worthy of a blank then so be it IMO. Its my favourite excuse btw. Good luck Rod, hope you get it. Treat it nice y'hear! Dare you not to weigh it and christen it Pisswings... Renrag
  18. A swim in the sea. Best cure I've ever found. Especially for Christmases Revenge- Boxing day dip. Only side effect is that it then takes 3 hours to coax your fella out afterwards unless it's already packed up its balls and left. Renrag
  19. Ah, dare I feed the Troll who has arisen in the guise of Mr H? I will attempt to answer your queries where I can and in order. Why can he not be a moderator for this forum? I believe he is a moderator as he is of a sensible nature and as such, has been tasked the 'moderation' of post content with regards to obscenities and abuse. Maybe it includes more but this is what I believe to be a major part of his contribution as a moderator. My own opinions on America are not are not of importance but to go along with the flow of your post, Mr H, I am not pro-America or anti-America as I have nothing to base an opinion on. I am not as fortunate as you to have experienced this facet of life as of yet and furthermore have no intention to. He may not know in detail our climate, the economy, the EA, where & when is fishing well, pole fishing, this useless bloody government we have but I believe he is sensible enough to know what and when he does not know. Besides, our American brethren are very advanced in Artificial Lure fishing as a whole, from which I can appreciate his expertise. Also other techniques are now coming to the fore in America as more mainstream (to us UK folk) coarse fishing is being embraced. New techniques and approaches from across the pond may well give us an advantage here one day and I for one would not hesitate to offer advice to anyone from around then world if I feel it may be of relevance. So, in summary, I feel that your opinion is no more than a negative view of the world and others' physical location in it, and that you 'could' become a happier and more fulfilled person by embracing the international community of anglers that the internet has allowed us to realise. I do hope I have not caused you grievance with my post Mr H, I merely propose a change of outlook on your part to realise what an important part of this cyber community You, Newt and every last one of us are. Bestest Regards, Brother Renrag, order of Ichthy.
  20. I believe a lot of it to be more reliant on wind strength than blindly following the wind. Carp, like all animals, aim to reduce their energy spend vs energy consumed. If it is beneficial to their survival they will. For example, a SW wind is relatively warm, thus bringing warmer weather to our shores and when of moderate strength (force 3-5 imo) will actively increase the oxygen level of the surface waters. Combine this with the attraction of windborne food and a warmer undertow, this will give an enclosed body of water a concentration of warmer ambient temperatures and a good source of food in the NE area of said body of water. However, when coming from the NE, this often brings a cooler weather pattern, which, when of moderate strength again, will still oxygenate the surface waters but also cool them, thus making the fish less efficient at digesting their food so will seek the middle ground so to speak, eg deep water in the middle. However in very strong winds (NE) or on smaller bodies of water, the fish will often be found in the NE as this is the area that stays warmer as it is somewhat sheltered. There is also the affect that a colder wind has on natural food, colder conditions restrict their movements too, so reducing the likelihood of them becoming fishfood. Generally I have found that a warm wind, S through W, the fish will follow it, as much as for the food content as the more agreeable weather. Vice versa for a cold wind, N through E. As for the other 2 quadrants, prevailing weather conditions and barometric pressure play a far more important role than wind direction alone. Despite my self assured logic, there are and will always be exceptions to the rule. For myself, this makes fishing an unknown lake quite easy in terms of preferred swim location. I head for the NE swims first in all cases until I know better. Best advice, think like a fish. What would you do? Renrag
  21. My best was about that size, maybe I should've weighed it properly... maybe its really really fat tho... Renrag
  22. Hope your shoulder gets better soon Gary. Would definitely be more than happy to meet up one day somewhere convenient to both of us. Maybe Whitlingham Lane or Womack Water nr Ludham now the boat season is waning and there are even a few nice little carp waters, a particul;ar favourite of mine being Holly Farm in South Walsham. I can't teach you any secrets, I don't know any but if a cuppa is on the cards, I'll be there. I do work odd shifts so please bear with me when we're arranging a day to meet up. Let me know when you're all fixed up and we'll sort something out. Renrag
  23. Maybe you Urn-ed it... I'll get my coat... Renrag
  24. Me too, hence the Air Rifle suggestion. I have no use for them as I usually fish waters that can be easily cast across or walked around if required. I suppose I might use one if I had a use for it, but I don't. Renrag
