  1. Took my son to Marsworth on tuesday, met bailif whilst walking up to the resevoir, asked him about a good swim for bream, which he was pleased to help with, paid the £8 for my son and myself. When we got to the resevoir and in the swim we were advised on, we noticed that the water looked like it had been sprayed with cellulose green paint, but we desided to fish anyway. There were no fish rising, no other anglers and we had had not one bite between us in two hours. We got talking to an angler that had been fishing for Pike on startops resevoire and he advised us not to fish as we were fishing amongst a very bad case of "Blue Algea" and that this can be poison to anglers. So we packed up and left. On the way back i noticed a post in the ground with a notice which had slid to the bottom in the grass saying about Blue/green algea. Why the hell dident the bailif advise us against fishing rather than being happy to releive me of £8, he must have known about it.
  2. Hi all i was wondering if anyone makes up hair rigs and sells them or has any for sale maybe in a wallet of some kind. I am off to do some early spring carping for a week with a friend but eyesite not to good or i would probably tie my own, and dont want to fork out extortionat rates for the ones at tackle shop. Thanks
  3. Hi To all not been here for a while but pc all sorted now. I have been offered the chance to go to Revels fishery in Dorset for a week, a friend won the holiday on the ebay auction site. Has anyone here fished it and if so please let me know your views on the place and what tactics for carp there at this time of year. Will be going on the 2nd of April, so maybe the weather will have warmed up a little by then.
  4. Hi matey i am intrested in your terminal bits and pieces. Please email me when you have time letting me know how much you want for it, especially the rigs as my eyes are not what they used to be lol. Do you accept Payment in way of nochex. 5. I Live in Dunstable, and would like to find a decent perch water, as i fancy fishing for them this winter, have never actually fished for perch, but i remember when i was a lad catching a 3 pound fish whilst spinning in the canal in London.
  6. Thanks matey i have posted you about it.
  7. Looking for a pole to use on the canal for matches, never used one, but have the time to practice practice practice, just started matches and from what i can see and have heard its the pole boys that win on the canal in my club lol. I live in bedfordshire and would like to be able to pick it up if possible. So i think its time to try one out, may not win but am dying to give one a go anyway. So am looking for a secondhand 13m or longer to start with. If you have anything let me know what you want for it, i can only say yay or nay, dont want to spend a fortune, as may not get on with it (not that i can afford a fortune). Thanks [ 07. 8. Hi matey thanks for the good info. I will be starting the day feeder fishing the far bank, have red worm and maggots and bread to take, along with a mixed groundbait, which consists of plain brown crumb with ground up hemp and sweetcorn mixed, will also be using this in feeder. If the boating gets to heavey i will have my floatfishing rod setup, to fish on or close to the near shelf, with the float i will also be trying maggot on the drop in the boat channel. Is there a particular float setup you prefer on the canal as i am more used to fishing still waters. Thanks.
  9. gonna be fishing a match at stoke hammond on the canal on sunday, only just started matches and only fished here once in the past, and not very successfully. I do not use the pole, does anyone have any tips for fishing this part of the canal. Thanks. [ 03. July 2004, 05:47 AM: Message edited by: Danez ]
  10. Hi all, has anyone found a way of making the hotdog sausages a little tougher as i am gonna have a go with them on my local lake tomorrow, or will they be just ok as they are. Thanks.
  11. Just a quick one. Does anyone know of any tackle shops online that accept nochex payment. Thanks
  12. From what i can make out ajp you fish the margins as someone has already pointed out, and fish with your float just below the surface without it actually breaking the surface, so i think a pair of polaroids would be a good idea which would help to see the float. As soon as it breaks the surface strike.
  13. Thanks for that Rudd, not really done much fishing for carp, but have caught them whilst fishing for tench, thinking of going after carp soon though and as i say i saw this methode on tv this morning.
  14. Hi all i have just seen a guy (John Hofgardner)on matt hayes fishing on tv, he was fishing for carp with his float just beneath the surface, does anyone know how he has this shotted. Thanks
  15. I am going to fish this place (not the club water)at the weekend, havent been down there for a couple of years, is it still fishable and do you still get the youngsters on their motorbikes. Thanks.
  16. Hi i am off to visit some people camping at billing, the part where they are has the river Nene running along about 100yrd's from the tent, anyone fished here and offer any advice on what method, i would prefer to ledger if poss. Thanks.
  17. Could someone please inform me as to when this program is on as i would love to see it. What i find refreshingly good about this thread is the fact that nobody has replied with the, "How can you eat carp thats a terrible thing to do" Statement, I personaly think its a most natural thing to do if you like that kind of thing, and are allowed to do it of course. Would be nice to be able to go out and catch the odd fish for the Table, (As i said if it is allowed). Don't think this makes anyone a bad angler, does it.
  18. Hmm bit tight!, dont normally have this much trouble getting it in. [ 18 July 2002, 08:16 PM: Message edited by: Danez ]
  19. Right thats that sorted, Dragon can you now post a piccy and point out the float please. Thanks.
  20. Thanks to you both, i will certainly try the chopped worm nugg. Phil i am not long into fishing matey, when you talk about the far shelf do you meen on the far slop as the water deepens, or indeed is there actually a flat shelf before the slope. Hope you know what i'm talking about LOL.
  21. Right i have seen it, where the reeds are lying in the water to the right of the rodtip, it is standing just behind the first piece you come to. Very small. [ 16 July 2002, 10:07 PM: Message edited by: Danez ]
  22. Can i just ask this mr Dragon sir, can the float actually be seen.
  23. Right after close examination,(again) i think the float is through the eye at top of rod, either that or you have no eyes at the top as there appears to be a couple then nothing towards what looks like the rod tip but in fact it is the float. Yes.
  24. Hmm!.. Out comes the Tackle.I'm off fishing LOL.
  25. Lets try this then, ok matey i was there watching lol. Four foot out from the rod tip, and two foot from the rushes to the right.
