    Iodine?

I used to use Iodine and glycerine, many many years ago, before there was anything else on the market. This treatment was given to me by a vet at the time, as a treatment for injury on koi, but I am sure it must be well outdated by now. The reason for using when fishing, was as many others, out of a genuin concern for the fish. I have long since come to realize that as I can not control the conditions of the fish afer use, I was probably not doing the fish much good. As aplication of any substance requires the removal of the protective layer in that area. The fish probably produce more medication in this layer than I was supplying to it. I no longer use anything, becase I think now that it is outweighed by the extra time keeping the fish out of the water. ........Liam

    Iodine?

If iodine is used, it should be mixed with glycerine. 50/50 .........Liam
  3. hi Gray, Just another point of view on fishing straight through. Those that do, asume that the line will go at the weekest point which is the knot at the hook, hence no line at all attatched. With a hook lenth you have two more knots as weak points, which will give a greater chance of leaving line attatched. Sorry to be perdantic, but it is a train of thought that is asumed by those that fish straight through. .......Liam
  4. Just a thought on this. What would happen if Chris took the same nice easy way that eveyone else has taken and resigned?. A serious Question, does anyone know the answer?. .......Liam
  5. Everybody, Everybody has made mistakes in the course of the RSSG from begining to end. Every committee member and every member who did nothing. What is that saying about casting stones!?. I know that I am guilty, So why can't everyone else except their own guilt, gracefully. Surely who made which mistakes is irrelevent now. All that is needed now is to get the money to the childrens hospital. Does anyone know how to help Chris do this easily?. Why Chris deserves to be the one that all this responsibility falls on, is beyond me. The money belongs to everyone who donated it. So the responsibility to get it to where it should go also belongs to them. Some really nice guys have already lost good friendships over this. All you Guys that are friends now are going to fall out over this beyond reason. Also some are going to miss out making friends that you have not met yet,at future fishing meets. Recriminations are a negative investment for everybody. When the hospital gets the money we ALL will have done something good. Lets aim for that alone. .........Liam
  6. My earlier Post was about how I felt generally with the whole situation. I personally would now like to thank Ray for all the time that he has spent trying to sort this out at his own expense,on behalf of the members. It would not matter what way he sorted it, it would have been wrong in someones book. I also think that Chris will be in the same boat. No matter what he does, he will be in the wrong with someone. Both deserve thanks! and respect from all of us that never do anything wrong. Mostly because we don't do anything. There is no gain in pointing blaming fingers at anyone. In the past, now or the future. In the end the only gain will be knowing that we have all, contributed a little to the childrens hospital. .......Liam

  8. Well what can one say!?. Are there any members, or even X members that do not want the monies paid to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, as quickly as possible?. Is there any member that would rather the funds be whittled down with postage and admin costs, to notify them about what they already know?. Does anyone really want this to drag on anymore than is absolutely necessary?. I can only answer for myself, No!. No!. No!. At the end of the day I can only agree with Alan's sentiments. Including the blanks!!. It is a sorry shame in my mind, that the kids are not getting the benefit of this cash right now. For reasons that are just beond my understanding. If there is anyone that feels that they could enlighten me, please don't!. I never want to be that clever. .........Liam
  9. Hi Chris, I am a little confused as to whether the meeting is definately on now, given the report of the RSSG finances by Ray on the other thread who suggests that it might be better postponed for a while. Is it all going to be sorted in time for the meeting to take place with a financial report as has been said will be needed?. I am posting instead of mailing this because I can't be the only one who is confused by it, but if I am I don't mind being branded fick. It is a long way for me to travel if it is not for a final solution. ........Liam
  10. There is only one sure way to prove that fish can feel pain and that would be to injour a fish then kill it and do an ortopsy. Get a chemist to detect endorphines or other natual pain killers. If none exist then evolution dictates there is no way that they could feel pain, on a level that can be as we or mamals understand it. If they find any I will believe it. ........Liam
  11. Totaly against the Idea. I like being there while all you guys are at work. ........Liam

  14. To get on to the RSSG site, you have to be logged in with your normal ezboard user name and password. You will automatically become a member of the site when you have made a post on any of the forums that you can see. There is a private message members forum that you can not see until you have been enabled. To get this done, I have to see that you have posted on the members forum as a member or at least posted to say that you wish to become a member. When you have been enabled to see the private forum you will receive an e-mail to let you know. Of coarse you will be very patient with this, as I might not be around when you post. If anyone has any problems please e-mail me direct and I will try to assist. My e-mail address is: liamsm@ntlworld.com Regards Liam

  16. Hi All, This is the link to the RSSG site. Recent past events have been like a car accident, where everyone wanted to stop by and look, even to gloat for some. Now is the time to use the site to put your idea's and offers to help forward, to make sure that the same situation does not happen again. Of coarse there are those that only want to have their say, when it is too late with hind sight. ARE YOU ONE OF THEM?. http://pub17.ezboard.com/bbrainswap [ 06. 18. In days long ago gone by, big Perch were very poular for stuffing and mounting, I have seen some masive stuffed specimens. .......Liam.
  19. Thanks! for the info Steve, I think that the perch,is the fish of youthful memories for most of us. .......Liam
  20. Thanks every one, I understand why it is done now, I think that Peter's post, best reflects my own view. .......Liam [ 29. September 2002, 02:07 PM: Message edited by: Liamsm ]
  21. Must admit that I have not WTNBOK, ( what is your name?) I guess that I have just taken the word of the carp angler in question, for the reasons. I have assumed that he is a general representative of carp specimen hunters and therefore made this post in an attempt to understand the situation. .........Liam
  22. Still confused Den, I defer from your post that you are not a modern carp angler, therefore your post is justifiable, but only a one sided view of the situation, that I am trying to understand. Any modern carp anglers out there want to add their views?. ......Liam.
  23. Eddie, I do not need to be grateful to anyone, as I pay my club membership the same as everyone else. The lake in question does seem to be frequented by carp anglers in bevies and I wonder if they know that the big carp have been moved. I am a barbel angler on the rivers by nature and only fish the lakes with my son, for his benefit and safety reasons. The point of my post was to try to understand the mentality and reasoning behind this practice. Also to see if carp specimen hunters agree in general with it. Maybe to give me an insight into the mind of most carp specimen anglers. I still do not understand why it would be exeptable to any angler let alone a specimen hunter. .........Liam [ 29. 24. True Miasma, but it is the point behind it, that I am trying to understand. ......Liam [ 28. September 2002, 11:23 PM: Message edited by: Liamsm ]
  25. Good point Newt!, assuming that the anglers of that lake are: inexperienced, or are match anglers, or are using light tackle. But!! Is this what specimen hunters realy want, all their fish in one pond?. I... as an ordinary angler like the prospect of the unknown, that is the appeal of fishing to me. I really do not understand the mentality behind this and am not trying to be pedantic. If this happened on the river I would be screaming mad about it. I can not understand why lake anglers do not feel the same. ..........Liam [ 28. September 2002, 11:02 PM: Message edited by: Liamsm ]
