  1. Hi all I am looking for a new pole to keep me going while my other is repaired , brand isn't an issue and just after something cheap or one that you guys don't use any more and just collecting dust would help , budget is around 90-120 so if anybody has an old decent pole I would be happy to talk number Adam
  2. It's a perch and welcome to the forum, where about in the northwest was it caught as I am from the same area
  3. It depends on the iPhone as well certain modles don't support the app unless updated but just need her iTunes details and password
  4. When I use chod rigs I thought of trying an elastic system , two mini rig swivels , length of 25lb hook link braid and silicon tubing. Use a long thin baiting needle - the korum stick baiting needle is ideal and thread on the silicon tubing slide it over the braid attach the mini swivels to the braid and then attach the silicone tubing over each swivel small amount of super glue to stop the tubing springing off and done , elasticated chod rig. Oh have the length if braid longer than the tubing , so it can stretch if needed I can post a how to on here ? I'll post a picture of it later if able too
  5. I would go over and pull the one out that remains , looks very suspect to me tbh. See what it is if looks legit throw it back
  6. I use the ngt rig boards ideal for lengths 3" to 10" and have multiple rigs in groups of 10 - always have more than you need as having to make more on the bank can be difficult as you know
  7. I have looked into the species a bit more and from what I can use as descriptive information and pictures they are wood pigeons - the male is the largest species in the UK. White collar around neck and bands on the wings and female has a brown band around the back or her neck I can see this has opened up a large debate about legal stance which is where I was after - I.E. if I was to take a slingshot and take out the best would it be illegal or should I leave alone as already have too nosey neighbours from moving in with my family they tried reporting my partner to the benefits office which was blown in there face as we had said I was moving in . Best leaving till the nest is empty of everything and remove it
  8. Hi all , I have the great unexpected pleasure of pigeons nesting on my sky dish , problem is they have effected signal and 1- they have laid eggs 2 - make a bloody dam racket into all hours How do I get rid of them or am I stuck with them till they go . Have no idea on species but know one is rather big and the other looks light brown/ grey . Where do I stand in getting them moved along with last resort action being humane death
  9. It depends where you fish I think , I normally fish from counsel parks that are free , use as cheap a bait I can depending on what I plan for , worms from the back garden work wonders for everything I find not just perch -yes you do get inundated but free , few slices of bread that the mrs doesn't see - free , £1 if caught haha and maggots about £2 for a pint. I can't say about club prices as I find going to a local lake or pond in the middle of an estate can bring the cheapness back - shame the canal isn't where I live otherwise would have a good time on that too
  10. I agree with stuchef as they have the whole area pre baited , the few lakes I have visited as the match lads are packing up I am watching where they are throwing the bait in and just stalk around with a good float set up , 6lb mainline to 5lb hook link and everything is landable and I tend to take a mixture of bait too , speak to the lads that do the match and ask what they got and see what bait they where using , if corn then use artificials if maggots nothing better than two on a size 14 / 12 wide gape hook. Same with pellets. Also a good fresh loaf works brilliantly too for bringing in the big carp to the surface . Folded with loads of fluff to keep in the top layers of the water .
  11. Hi all thanks for all your suggestions and I gave them ago last night with limited success so made a tying rig with a match man hook tyer and wood , it's a bit crude but I think it will do the job . Looked online for hook length tyres and seen a few products that help you make exact length rigs so made on me self from a piece of old wood and a hanger. I'll post a full topic later if it works with pictures if I can find a way to post them with my iPhone . Thanks guys
  12. Hi guys and girls , does anybody know or have made a hook tying device that gets rigs at a constant length every time ? As cant seem to find anything that can help , trying to get a batch of feeder links made but the attempts I have done are far from consistent in length . I am aiming for 4" lengths but getting between 5/6 " any help would be great
  13. Thanks all for posts , it's helped a lot , I will try some solutions all mentioned and see what comes of it , looking at the spool tho there does seem to be a gap between the retaining clip and the clutch washers about 2/3 mill maybe this could be the problem ? As the spool does have a bit of movement up and down with the couch tight , maybe that could be the cause
  14. Hi rob she is great , tbh I completely forgot about them but both kids will get the fishing bug you can trust me on that one and will defiantly get my old floats when I pass lol thanks rob
  15. More of a v on the spool instead of l l
  16. Yea new line spool is fully down unsure on how many washers need to be on the spindle and it does go up and down , it's not laying line parallel on the spool
  17. Yes it does , sorry didn't literally mean all line at top it's tapered more at the top more of a cone instead of parellel
  18. Hi guys and girls , been a while but hoping to get out for a session tomorrow but the reel I plan on using isn't holing line properly as its bulked up at the top the reel is a wychwood extremis FD . Is there any way I can fix the line lay on it ? Was a second hand reel from cash generator so no spare washers to adjust the spool . Any help would be great thanks
