  2. Ant, great report and you have given me abit of an insight to linear which im planning to head over and try in the next couple of weeks. can you use barbed hooks or is it barbless only? I have googled and youtubed linear but they havent helped me find the answer. I hope i manage to do half as well as you did when i go but i will be targeting carp.

All i have been planning a trip to linear and ive been told that zigs work best at these lakes, do you have to spod to use zigs because ive never used a spod before and was planning on using pva bags. Has anyone got any advice on this or any other rigs/ bait which i would be better off using? cheers tom
  4. i seem to be having a bit of a drought with my fishing at the moment no matter what i try i just dont seem to be catching. anyone having/ or had this problem?

  7. I only started fishing back in august and due to work i dont get to go as much as i would like, but my target is to land a double. To most it sounds simple and most may laugh but we all gota start somewhere and confidence is one thing i need to build on in my fishing

  9. thanks steve i will get down to acorn soon, do you know if the stretch near the marina is free... i dont really know much about the thames... what tactics should i use for the river? ive done some fishing in lakes maily targeting carp but i caught a tench at lauras of about 4lb and now i want to fish the rivers what breaking strain line should i use? alot of questions i know but trying todo some home work to give my self the best start
  10. All, im considering joining sutton courtenay a c but most of their waters are parts of the thames to which i have never fished a river before... Can anyone sugest a good part of the river to start and what is the best bait to use... Also would it be best to use a float or a cage feeder? Thanks in advance
  11. Hi all, can anyone provide any information for fishing around geldeston. I live in oxford but will be visiting family that way for a few days. I will be fishing mainly for pike but happy to catch anything. Can anyone recommend anywhere particular to fish, what bait works or maybe someone we could get in contact with who will know?   12. hey incase you didnt already know reme have its own fishing team and i think there is an army team aswel. im a driver so you will grow to hate my kind with the work we cause you on exercises, but i have become good friends with some of the vm's in abingdon and a couple there are on the team. good luck mate

  16. hi john thanks for the reply, its a small lake called jacks in didcot i did put a post trying to get info on this venue but no replys... its surrounded by trees and small bushes but alot of open bank and hasnt got any over hanging trees and has carp bream roach. as i said iv tried to find out more but nothing heared yet. was just trying to find out how everyone else goes about fishing day ticket lakes. Tom
  17. what is the best way to fish a day ticket water? i appriciate your never garaunteed to catch fish but would like to give my self the best chance possible.
  18. i read on waterscape that theres carp bream roach and rudd. i drove past and its quite a small venue but looked popular as there was a few people there

    hi all

    thanks newt any advice? although i said i have just started out in carp im trying to keep open minded about fishing for different spieces and im curious about river fishing.... i went and found a few spots along the thames but never fished a river in my life nor do i know anyone who has, is it difficult as i imagine the flow of water can be quite strong at times? would i fish with a float or a feeder? and what bait do you use on rivers?
  21. Cheers rusty i went there today but to no joy, but did meet a couple of lads who had never fished it before and recomended jacks so will be giving that a try next time... just need to get catching and build on my experience/ confidence.
  22. does fish at either appleford reach north or south? do you have to be a member of any angling club to fish this part of the thames?
