When ever i go fishing for bream on the river in summer i usually try to get there for 4:30 morning so i am all ready and set up fishing by 5:00. In my experience i am always catching up until 9:00 then it gets a bit quiet with some occasional bites and fish, usually just perch sometimes i get another bream and then it goes brain dead by 10:00. I am not really sure what happens and how can i carry on catching fish ? iv heard that fish backs away from the feed or maybe i should be feeding another spot but i always get paranoid that what if bream comes back to my feed again and im not there Only when river is up or its raining i can be catching all day long but in clear summers day it has been pretty much same experience every time and im not sure what can i do because i can gladly sit there for many more hours. Any tips and advice welcome thanks

apparently this is good time of year for bream fishing....but i have been to the river like 3-4 times already in past 3 weeks and haven't caught a single bream fished few different spots, using same tactics that worked for me in summer. Have tried finer hook length line and smaller hooks then i usually use but still nothing. Not sure if they just not feeding or they just relocated to different spots preparing for winter i have no idea. Any tips ?

oh yes theres plenty of perch! i always get them when fishing for bream on worms

Sorry mate i forgot to mention im fishing river Ouse in York, its also full of bream! average size 3-4lb and plenty of 5lb+ ones. I think its probably quite similar to Thames. Thats how much i pay for mine! sounds about same, its just when you said full bucket i thought you meant like 10kgs of ground bait xD So that dont sound too expensive and will be worth trying. i think fins been damaged in keepnet , if fish not released with care. Not sure tho

a full bucket ??? how many bags / kg's of bait you use in one season ? i am a newbie in feeder / bream fishing and all i ever use is about 1-1.5 kg in total of what ever ground bait mixes i got, half o paint of casters, less then half a can of sweetcorn and about quarter kilo of worms. My best season this year was so far with 14 bream, the rest is 1-6 bream (sometimes blank). I am always paranoid that i will end up wasting lots of ground bait and not end up catching anything, im also still not sure about balling in bait i would love to try it but im paranoid that i will miss my spot when balling or when trying to get my feeder on top of feed. Where im fishing is pretty deep, i think about 10ft or so

ended up buying it from my local shop for £45, i didnt even realize that platform barrows transform into sitting platforms! that is insanely good! i only have cheap seat box with no foot plate so that will help a lot in very muddy pegs legs also help to hold any gear in place so only need 2 straps to hold it all cant wait to test it

i see, will it not fall and straps will stretch when going up hill or down hill ? ( possibly one of them shooting in ur face =/) or is it designed to be flat whenever you carrying it ?

thx for the tip mate, i have seen a lot on internet but most of the have bad reviews and the other ones have a mixed ones. Not sure what to get, dont really have more then 50 quid to spend on one atm. Ill have a look at my tackle shop, there was a flat platform one that looked pretty solid for 50 quid but there was nothing else on it to hold your gear on...im not sure maybe i missed something i will have to have a proper look next time im in there.

Hi, i hope this is right wrong forum, i couldn't rly find anything about fishing gear discussion just sales. I am looking to get cheap barrow around £50 range if its possible. Size dont matter to me i only carry seat box, bucket and a keep-net bag with me. I will be taking it to rivers with very rough roads, holes, grass etc... i want something that will not break in the process. Can someone recommend me good barrow trolley for this please? thanks

yeah i did mate i even got magnifying glass last time to check for that! maybe there just lots of pike, sharp mussels like you and other people say. But iv seen some fisher man down there fishing for bream on lob worm and no one ever complained but then again i never asked them specificity if they having pike / mussless problem . It is stretch that belongs to Angling Club and has matches on it like every week I have fished about 8 miles away from that swim on same river, never lost a fish but i never hooked anything big there just 3-4lb bream and usual perch. However i did lose a few hooks on nags, and all of them came off so easily. Deffo not normal @ Andy_1984 ahah i may aswel!

no just a plastic one but its fairly big, i have a pair of them scissors like disgorgers dont know why i never used them...its so much easier just ordered some different line its "guru n-guage" 5lb 0.15 going to use uni knot see what happens

the knot stays on the hook but line breaks just where line comes out from the knot , i have no idea what weakens it iam moisten the crap out of it lol like i said i have tested Palomar knot at home with pliers and its strong as hell but something happens when im fishing and line just weakens and breaks near the hook

@ philocalist thanks mate i will deffo try that knot! and take even more time and care then i already have! i was thinking about mussels but iv been checking bottom with led and it just felt like mud nothing else on the bottom, theres gravel bed closer to me but i dont fish on it. However im not using braid so i may wont be able to feel perfectly whats at the bottom @ Steve Walker thats crazy i always though the only reason you catch pike is when its going for a smaller fish that you have hooked, some of it deffo could be pike then as im fishing on two big lob worms. Its deffinatly gets weakened or damaged somehow, due to knot or something else not sure (((

lol nope, i know you prob could say it was pike but about 15 of them...on a worm ? probably not a pike but it dont even matter, like i said when i even got a snag without putting too much pressure the hook would snap anyway, 5+lb line should take some serious force before it snaps for sure

line is snapping very close to the hook, it has never snapped in the middle or anywhere else, always close to the hook i just had a thought, maybe im damaging it with disgorger some how...after that greedy perch swallows hook very deep i always seem to struggle to get it out straight away

i would be more then happy to do that but they only do them 30cm long and i dont know anyone whos into fishing that lives close by to show me

thanks for quick replies guys! yes, drag has been set light and i have preston c-tech feeder rod it is very soft and light so i dont think theres any problem in there. I know exactly it makes no sense! such a strong line shouldn't break. I do a loop knot with that snake looking like tool and attach to swiwl connected to my main line by putting hook through swiwl eye first and then putting hook through loop knot ( i hope it makes sense)

Hi i am hoping you can take your time and read my post and hopefully identify my problem or at list point me in the right direction. Because i dont even want to go fishing any more im scared of loosing more fish and hooks and sitting there tying hooks instead of enjoying my fishing. Recently i had a lot of frustrating feeder fishing days on the river, my home made pre tied hook lengths keeps snapping at the hook knot.I have never had this problem before when i fished on lake with my feeder for skimmers and some bream before river season. But theres some big bream in river i ended up loosing a lot of them due to my hook lengths snapping First day i want to the river i used Kamasan b560 n12 hook and preston power line 0.13mm 2.136kg/4lb 12oz i ended up landing two bream 5.5lb , 5.2lb and even one pike 6.5lb! with out any problem but thats all i caught that day. Next day i went and bream was feeding like mad, rod tip was bending like crazy it was just amazing i never seen bream feed that well! But what could have been best day of fishing in my life turned into worst day, after landing about 6 bream around 3-4 lb and plenty of perch on same tackle i started hooking into what felt like was much bigger fish, cut long story short every time i hooked into fish my hook lengths would snap ,i have tried everything...i would easy my reel spool drag to the max, would play with fish slow and easy but every time fish went for it hook length would snap. I ended up using drennan supplex 5.8lb line that i had but it would still snap!!! every time i hooked into fish. I went to tackle shop and guys there suggest to use eyed hooks, said maybe it was spade that was cutting my line. So i got some eyed drennan specimen hooks n12, sat at home using my hook tier to do my hook lengths. Decided to test them with pair of pliers, hold hook with pliers and pull on my line to see where it snaps and its always been snapping at the knot with out even that much pressure. So i thought problem was solved it was me not doing it properly. After 100 more tries i decided screw this ill just do it by hand using one of the fishing knots off internet. I ended up using palomar knot > http://www.crappie101.com/sites/default/files/palomar.gif I tested it with pliers again and it was strong as hell! it would never break at the knot but would break somewhere else on the line, so i was very happy and confident to go fishing. So i went fishing and after catching some perch im hooked into decent fish and bam! hook is gone again, put a new one one catch few more perch and im into decent fish and my hook snaps again! Then i get a snag and without even putting much pressure my hook snaps again very easily. This time im using power line 0.15mm 2.683kg/5lb 14oz. So as if after its been in the water for a bit it looses its strengths or something...? but theres just mud and nothing else in there... i have checked bottom with led plenty of times and tried fishing different stretches but im still having same problem. I have no idea what to make of it...theres never any tangles on my feeder rig, everything looks smooth and my feeder rod is very soft , my reel drag is smooth and working fine. I would be more then happy to buy ready tied hook length as i always do for my float fishing but they dont seem to make it more then 30cm and i need 90cm for my feeder fishing I hope some can help me out coz this is just ridiculous

i am still new to feeder / bream fishing, i was wondering if its worth getting to the river before dawn? i have noticed that whenever i caught bream on the river or lake it was usually around 10:00 -13:00. and before that it was always smaller fish like perch, roach etc... Made me thinking that it maybe better to set off a bit later and dont spook fish with constant feeder bombardment and maybe have a better chance of catching more and bigger bream? Whats your thoughts on this guys ? thanks

to be honest i never really cared about weight or photos of my fish, I find this whole process extremely messy anyway..me and my phone covered from head to toe in fish saliva ahaha but i always love to use a keepnet so i can have a last look at what iv caught. I was just wondering if theres an easy way as i have seen some perfect pictures of bags of fish on internet, when i was doing some research on certain fish tactics
