  1. That is taking the P###, I seem to remember that Hugh Miles' wife was on here or another site giving the address in order to buy the vids. Give the money to people who made such beautiful programs. We are talking conershop business, not EMI, they deserve it.

wow! David is that a tiger fish? Elton cheers for sorting Avatar
  3. Fair enough peter, point taken Can happen. On the Light tackle issue, I don't include a balanced ultra light set-up in my scenario, But I stress again I would rather see people use gear that is too strong than gear that is too weak. No line class awards going on the Ouse. But people still break off after "Playing "in a pike for 5-6Mins+, because they felt the need to fish as light as possible, WHY??, If they do manage to land the fish the exhausted pike goes through the Unhooking procedure out of the water. Most J.B's are taken in such a way that Most pike can be unhooked by the water after a short fight ( PIKE AREN'T SALMON), Got to be better for the pike-surely. Even so it is the Strong gear that is taking all the flak at the moment. Could it be by people who have never, ever spent anytime fishing this method- No never, not possible, People surely wouldn't preach as fact, things they haven't done themselves, would they? I too ultra light lure fish, But that doesn't mean silly light lines only light lures, no need these days. Chris, I guess I got off the plot a little, I am Not saying what they did was correct. But your description seemed to take equal offence to the fact they were maybe using Jerkbait gear, as too the actual act . I Know I'm not alone in seeing an increase in bad mouthing of Jerkbait gear. I didn't want to get into this but: Dead roach? Have you ever fished below a match? If I fish downstream of a match, the roach often come floating down belly up, I collect them for sink and draw. Not everything is cut and dried. Not every carp angler fishes four rods covering all the lake for themselves. Not every matchman stomps past your swim with all his gear, only to Get a strop if you tip toe past him. Not every pole angler takes up all the footpath. Not every lure angler disturbs your barbel swim with his miscasts, oh alright he does!!. Sure there are going to be a##eholes out there, ( surely we have all been)- Don't tar the style, tar the people. [ 22 May 2002, 01:30 AM: Message edited by: Danny H ]

  5. Rob, thank you for your reply, Slub what a great name. You are quite right it is resin not wax, that was the word I was looking for. As I said I was spooling the day before our Major annual fish -in, so I had to proceed, normally I have unspooled then wasted time driving to fishing shop, then paid parking, then had to argue with shop, then got new spool, then driven home and respooled. As You can see, I must love the product to do this, I have had to do this 3 times in the last 4 years This time the braid was bought via Dave Lumb, it was Sat night, I had to fish 10.00am Sunday- bit stuck I hope to god it is now 1-10,000, as I said it has improved. But I will state here ,and would do in court that I have had 1-3 spools with this problem in the past, I have probably purchased in total approx 12. Great product, minor problem, wish they would ditch the resin. all the best Will return all the line to you. Please email me address. P.S My last spool of 100lb had lasted 3+ years.

  7. Sorry to disagree with somebody as experienced as yourself leon, but As Tim says the strong Multistrand is great too.In Fact I'd go as far as too say that certain lighter baits work better with Multi, than single strand. Also in single strand kinks can become a problem. I have used Bucher leaders and the like, but Multistrand is more versatile.

  9. Night before Our LAS Ardinley fish in. respooled two Multis with 55Kg p.p. Once again the dreaded wax lump appeared 35 yrds in. ( Used to be quite common, is a knot of wax coating that used to appear on the braid, in about 1 in 3 spools bought) Cleaned out the lump, and carried on spooling up. At the fish in the braid snapped at that point, managed to save Loz Harrop custom lure, but left with Un realistic amount of braid on spool. Will now have to trash that 35yrds as well. Must have lost 70yrds of new spool of braid, (can't seriously fish lures with klnot in middle of the line, so can't tie on new piece)- the bloody stuff cost £26 1. Thought the wax lump situation was now sorted 2. As the coating comes off after a few days anyway, I wish you could buy the braid without it. Anyone who has seen my posts knows I love Power Pro, But please, please, Game on- sort it out- if Poss.

  11. New power pro leaflet advocates Grinner over Palomar for a tiny bit more strength. But as the guys have said there are lots of different braids, some shops even try and sell fusion as braid. For me 7-8 turn grinner twice through eye first

  13. Although I am all for no close season on Rivers, I wholeheartedly agree that on captive stillwaters, the spawning grounds should be roped off during this particular time of the year. Having said all of that, " Boat gear", was this jerkbait gear? If it was, We have had this debate, time and again there are advantages in getting a pike in quick, and letting it swim off, rather than the fart arsing about that sometimes goes under the heading " Playing the pike"- which is more often than not inadequate tackle being used by a part time piker ( Float rods for spinners etc). I would much rather see over strong tackle being used, than the more common, under powered tackle, that we get to see every summer.

I like your idea of staggering the rivers. As far as a Ref' goes people on this board seem to think that 90% of anglers are for the close season, so who knows which way it would go. Be nice to know. I'd like this one please:
  19. well done Leon, was it on a lure?
  20. Cheers chesters. Went for a reccy this evening the exact place is witley, which seems to be close to tilford, is it worth fishing the wey at Godalming or tilford? I saw the river in the dark ( this evening while looking around), couldn't see depth etc, but it looked nice. The place seems to be teeming with Farm ponds, but I guess they are all private, but they look ripe for ultralight spinning. Also what is that big pond as you head from God' to Guildford on the left ? cheers

  22. Cheers lyn. Looking for the classic English river scene, Upper gt ouse, Kennet, you know the type of thing, Beautiful winding river, willows, not to fast pace. Chesters, got no choice, but having moved to Bedfordshire after 33 years in central London, hope to be prepared for prices.

  24. Look like I'm moving from my Beloved Great Ouse area down to Godalming/Milton area in Surrey. Is there any nice running water down that way, I tend to only Lure fish. River Arun Maybe?
