Hi FF2, I've just picked up a book on British flora and fauna. Interesting to me how they develop. I think I read somewhere (Fly-Fishing and Fly-Tying last month) that some of the flies spend 3 years as nymphs before they hatch. Amazing stuff really.
  2. Very nice Steve. I'm pretty lucky as well.
  3. A friend of mine thought he was getting a great deal off ebay earlier this week. A adsl modem or something to that effect. In the shops it went for near £80. He won it for £1 and got hit for £9 shipping and £19.90 for insurance. Still a deal but got ripped off with the other stuff. Chesters do you really expect one? [ 18. 4. What is the "real" standard for flat fee shipping?
  5. Farmer Jones got out of his car and while heading for his friend's door, noticed a pig with a wooden leg. His curiosity roused, he ask, "Fred, how'd that pig get him a wooden leg?" "Well Michael, that's a mighty special pig! A while back a wild boar attacked me while I was walking in the woods. That pig there came a runnin', went after that boar and chased him away. Saved my life!" "And the boar tore up his leg?" "No he was fine after that. But a bit later we had that fire. Started in the shed up against the barn. Well, that ole pig started squealin' like he was stuck, woke us up, and 'fore we got out here, the darn thing had herded the other animals out of the barn and saved 'em all!" "So that's when he hurt his leg, huh, Fred?" "No, Michael. He was a might winded, though. When my tractor hit a rock and rolled down the hill into the pond I was knocked clean out. When I came to, that pig had dove into the pond and dragged me out 'fore I drowded. Sure did save my life." "And that was when he hurt his leg?" "Oh no, he was fine. Cleaned him up, too." "OK, Fred. So just tell me. How did he get the wooden leg?" "Well", the farmer tells him, "A pig like that, you don't want to eat all at once!"

They are quite a sight just before it gets dark. I've seen some others that were bright green riding high in the water and not as large. In late summer I think. Obviously not the same species.
  7. You can buy them live in the southern US. Very tasty! Good catfish bait too. Here and Here Newt should definitely be able to add his two cents. Spoke too soon. [ 15. June 2005, 09:07 PM: Message edited by: Jeff S ]
  8. That is interesting. You can tell alot from what people purchase. N4lly do you research sellers before you make a bid? I do but I didn't know that you could search through previous auctions.
  9. He sent me an email last night (2250) after the auction closed asking if I still wanted it. I actually considered getting it anyway but another ebayer has convinced me not to. My reply: Hello, Is it a coincidence that leedsutd1949 and you have the same last four ID numbers? And leedsutd1949 only has history beginning June 13 the day before your auction ended? If I remember correctly leedsutd started bidding somewhere near £120.00. I believe that the auction was led to your reserve, which isn't the problem. I would gladly pay the reserve price had this not happened. Since leedsutd failed to complete the transaction you are now willing to accept less than your reserve? I'd be interested in what sort of feedback you leave for leedsutd. I'm sorry but I've lost interest in your item. Thank you Allan He has replied back stating that he has already contacted ebay and that he always upholds the rules and regulations of ebay. ------------------- I used to hear good things about ebay, there has been alot of negative posts about it lately though. I've only bought a few things from there and haven't got much experience with it, but have been happy with the items I have won. [ 15. June 2005, 02:57 PM: Message edited by: Jeff S ]
  10. Guess I have a second chance! Seller wants to know if I still want to buy it as the other guy couldn't pay.
  11. Camping? Isn't that the same as carping? re: is there something else i may have interesting  The comment was made in jest over your long reply... [ 14. June 2005, 08:13 PM: Message edited by: Jeff S ]
  12. Wouldn't know what to do with a 10' spinning rod! I've got a 10' match rod and haven't used it yet. Sounds nice though. You should keep it to augment your collection I didn't know hexagraph made spinning rods. [ 14. June 2005, 07:58 PM: Message edited by: Jeff S ]
  13. What size and weight?
  14. Got anything to sell Chesters? Sad thing is I'm after a 21" frame specialized, trek or GT mountain bike, and the postage costs alone are phenomenal.. UPS from the US qouted £250! Just past reserve . [ 14. June 2005, 07:45 PM: Message edited by: Jeff S ]
  15. Hasn't reached reserve yet but I've run it up as high as I'd be willing to pay for the item.
  16. What are the odds that a bidder on an item I am interested in is the same person selling the item? Coincidence? Both bidder and sellers ID end in 1949 bidder has made no purchases yet since he's only been a member since uhh yesterday... The auction ends today!! Strange or common?
  17. Right now reading the Narnia Chronicles by CS Lewis ahead of my daughter. Strangely religious... Have read all of Dan Browns popular books, Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, Deception Point, and Digital Fortress and the majority of Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy. Chesters

Have had a hatch nearly every evening for the past few weeks. Sadly it is coming to an end though impressive to watch. Any ideas what type this one is?
  19. Amanda Hugankiss, Al Coholic, Justin Case, Ben Dover, Phil McCracken, Dick Butkis (actual) and Jack Mahogof.
  20. How far oop north are you Tyke?
  21. Hi MG, don't know much about tench but I remember someone on here raking the swim and watched John Wilson doing the same in one of his episodes. Can't help but get up early with all the sunlight at 4am. Good luck
  22. Sometimes I'm amazed at what is being used to tow caravans. A friend of mine tows his with a Volvo S40. It's almost as much fun getting stuck behind a tractor on the A61. Sad about the Evo though. Must be a fun car!
  23. I've known the feeling Elton. You don't pull that new boat of yours behind the Evo? I looked at accepting payment through paypal and it appears that they only charge if you have a premier/business account. They don't charge for a personal account. Strange really it seems like a way to take advantage of the service. My bank is in the US so I would be charged a 2.5% fee and that for the exchange rate. Hey Ferret, Thanks I will keep that in mind!
