  1. Jim - you, me, H.A. and all those others involved share an equal concern about how our fisheries works or doesn't work. The prolific incident is not acceptable but we have to look at the wider picture if we have any hope in tackling it. Most anglers have very little understanding of commercial fisheries beyond the knee-jerk reactions, maybe if we all try to understand this crazy system then we might start to move forward? Interesting discussion here at the mo - http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/show...ad.php?t=157370
  2. You never made use of that vast swimming pool at Charlie Luc then?
  3. Tonight Shetland Fishermen’s Association chief executive Hansen Black said the Prolific crew had no choice but to dump their catch. “He was fishing in the Norwegian sector when he caught a shot of saithe. He didn’t have a quota for it so he couldn’t retain it on board, he couldn’t dump it in the Norwegian sector. The only thing he could legally do was go outside Norwegian waters and discard the fish,” Mr Black said. He added the two boats had steamed 100 miles away in search of a mixed fishery, hoping not to land any more saithe. http://www.shetlandmarine.com/2008/02%20Fi...ing_footage.htm
  4. What is your problem Jim? It all seems perfectly legal within CFP guidelines which encourage discards? They were acting within the law or facing a £50,000 fine for each offence of landing perfectly edible fish that were outwith quota
  5. Not sure I'd buy a used car of them lot, after watching that. Thanks for the link

  10. Sea Pussy - Sounds a bit salty to me
  11. Ohhh, and who do you think will be next? If only they (WWF) would recoginise that with mixed fisheries, you do not determine what you catch, so if there ban were successful it would just lead to more discards
  12. WTF! First we have the Pew-Gate scandal with the Shark Alliance and now WWF are funding Angling Trust??? I'm sure Hulk Hogan will have plenty to say about all this
  13. How can they possibly ban anchoring? That would be like banning angling
  14. Send a bundle up here and I'll distribute Inverness to Caithness
