  1. Lets see, you have a forum name, that could be real and could be made up. You have a profile photo where your face cannot be seen and beyond that nothing. I also have a forum name that could be real and could be made up , I have a profile pic that shows MY FULL FACE and can easily be seen making me instantly recognisable. I list my age, my dob and my town of residence... and i'm the annonymous one? ok so here ya go... my full name as given when i was adopted is David Anthony Clarke, the name i changed it to by deed poll is Krazey Dayz , my orginal name given at birth was D A Greensmith... And your head is still up your arse.
  2. Edit :Comment to Mr Lumb removed. Im better than that.
  3. All I'm gonna say Mr Lumb is that if this chap was indeed an 'Anti' then surely the responses given him on the P+P forum would only have shown anglers in a bad light? Whereas the polite and intelligently formed ,knowledgable answers given hereshow anglers as willing to educate people over the common misconceptions... "Bullshit is given the treatment it deserves" oh contrare mon ami... the treatment Bullshit deserves is to be IGNORED . Now if the folks here appear to be slipper wearing gullible fools i find that preferable and more beneficial to the sport we all love than the hobnail boot wearing skinheaded yobbo attitude shown on the P+P forum. In essence the treatment given this chap there makes anglers look like a bunch of self centred antogonistic egomaniacs.
  4. Ive recently started fishing with a centrepin and im now addicted lol.I'd never heard of the Wallis cast until i read this thread and I'm going to try it the next time I go for a session. Unlike most of you I do not reserve my centrepins for river fishing so dont have that long to wait . So far my only method of casting has been the 'loop' method using 2 or 3 loops .My accuracy tends to go to pieces when the wind picks up but then again I'm not that accurate with a fixed spool lol. To me using anything other than a pin with a split cane rod would be an insult to the rod and I'm addicted to the feel of a decent fish on a split cane. Here's a pic of my best lake catch ... it doesnt show the rod that well but its approx 5.5 foot long and was my fathers. Its not one of the 2 ive worked on...(ive yet to figure out how to use the bluetooth gadget to get the pics of those from phone to pc lol) but I will be working on it soon.
  5. The thinners I used was the one reccomended on the tin of varnish so it must have been a mistake I made. First coat has now dried and looks a lot better than my original efforts. A question before I go any further, some articles Ive found on the internet reccomend sanding between coats, but dont mention what grade paper to use or give any idea as to the extent of sanding.Would I be right in thinking the finer the paper the better? I've not done anything requiring the use of sandpaper or varnish since leaving school over 20 years ago, so my knowledge is so scant you could use a postage stamp as writing paper and have space left over lol
  6. Thanks for all the advice guys, after reading what you have said and some careful thinking ive stripped off all the tacky stuff and started again using an almost neat varnish solution applied with my fingers. It looked better immediately I'm glad to say. I'll let you all know how the drying goes later and when everything is finnished I'll post pictures of the finnished rod.Bear in mind that this whole process has been a learning experience for me, from stripping to whipping to the varnish.I have never attempted anything like it in the past so will admit that some of my whippings look somewhat untidy compared to the almost perfectly identical whippings that were originally on the rod, however it was never my intention to have a stunningingly beautiful work of art for gazing at but a functional rod that I could use without fear of guides dropping off while playing a fish(as 2 already had). Thanks again
  7. Im using a proper Maritime varnish bought from a chandlers .Followed advice as much as I was given, which was no more than " pour some (varnish) into another container and stir in some of this (thinners) then apply 3 coats" . I've gotten no further than the 1st coat so far. DavyR any idea what ratio varnish to thinners would be best? I've kept the sections in my bedroom to avoid too much cold thinking that room temperature would have improved the drying times. If I have overthinned the varnish would I be best removing what I've applied and starting again? The rod I've been working on was sold as an Aspindale 12 foot General Purpose but the only providence for it is on the rodbag and as it is so easy to switch a bag I have little faith in it actually being such . As things stand at the moment the varnish, guides and silk cost me more than the rod (which came with a speedia centrepin for approx £10 , 3 rods and 3 reels bought together for £30) Thanks to anyone who can help me with advice on this project. This hang-up with the varnish is proving to be the most difficult part . I'd hoped to be able to put the rod back into service this year but at the rate things are going it will be next year at the earliest.
  8. As in real life the stiffness of the rod will affect casting range as will the reel. For truly long range casting try the curado baitcaster reel with any of the whippier rods eg the 10ft shimano hyperloop boat rod... Wish i could remember where i downloaded these from but it escapes me for the moment , sorry
  9. Tyke, would ya be reffering t'Pugney's water park? next to t'bella estate in wakey? I have some fond memories o the stream that runs atwixt the lakes and the estate.Tis a much underrated little water .sitting on the bridge (before they rebuilt the wall ) chucking under for decent perch and roach was a fun way to spend an aftie.Down by the wooden footie I had quite a surpise, landed a bream of approx 4lb on a kiddies toy rod i bought from Index catalogue shop for £8 !! Eh but those were the days, 'nother place nr there iused to like was a small pond with a few carp and hundreds of perch...think it may o been kettlethorpe hall(not sure tho), all i can really remember is baggin over 145 perch in an hour and half!!
  10. How many times do you need telling? Copying games is piracy, piracy is a crime. We will not break the law for a cheeky tight fisted sod like you. If you can afford to buy a cd-writer you can afford to buy the game. I'm disabled and dont work yet I can afford it.You never heard of saving? In the time between your two begging posts I've saved over £300, surely to God you could have saved £20. In short NO YOU CANT!!!!!!!
