  1. Mozzie hats as described by the previous poster are on sale at a lot of US outdoor sites as they have a lot of biting insects in some areas during the summer. Try http://www.cabelas.com for some examples. You may find it cheaper to buy from the States online, or at the very least it will give you some ideas.

  3. Go to www.google.com and type this into the search :- USA Immigration green card This will give you loads of sites that specialise and they should have links to the official .gov site, whatever it is. These sites may tell you what you need to know in clearer language as well.

  5. How much do you want to spend, and whereabouts in the country. Off the top of my head (ie some that would appeal to me) a day with John Wilson maybe on his lake, a weekend barbel fishing on the Wye with John Bailey, a day with Das Taylor, one of the fishing weekends offered by Waterlog magazine.

  7. Given the state of the Severn at the moment (ie invading towns) I think you may be pushing it to get on before the end of the season. The Teme *may* be a better bet in the immediate future. If you're talking generically then the BAA certainly give you plenty of choice, and I'd also consider the Telford/Ironbridge area - plenty of day tickets available with plenty of different types of water. Unfortunately I'm out of touch with who owns what these days so ring Telford Angling Centre in St Georges (01952 610497) or Rod & Gun in Wellington (01952 503550) for details.

  11. Float and leger rods are different things - there aren't too many rods that will do both well. If you must have one rod that does both then consider the Masterline John Wilson Avon rod. It comes with 2 top sections, one a quivertip and one for float. It is designed for rivers though so it may be a bit heavy for what you want. If you want 2 rods then some of the Masterline Debut series seem good value to me - they do both float and quivertip rods in this range. I can't claim to have used any rods in this price range in recent years however so I can't really comment on any other brands. A little research in the tackleshop section of http://www.go-fishing.co.uk should give you plenty to go on however.

  13. So the F1 digital coverage is going to cost 12 quid per race. Anybody going to pay up?? I certainly won't be for the first race simply because it's on at 2AM and I don't think I'd do it justice. May be tempted for some of the other races perhaps - I'll probably see what those who pay think of it first. Am I alone however in thinking that perhaps they've just priced it too high. If it was £6 I probably wouldn't have though twice about paying for every race, and if they'd offered a season ticket at a discount price I'd probably have gone for that. As it stands now they'll probably earn less money from me than they would if they'd had a lower price!

  15. Indeed we are, but as I said, it's often easy for new people to feel left out because of the very fact that a lot of people know each other and what has gone before, whereas they as newcomers do not. There has to be give and take on both sides - the regulars have to be prepared to cover old ground, the newbies have to put in a little work and join in to learn about the site and its characters.

  17. The problem is that people get bored of answering the same question for the 17th time. That's not a criticism of new posters because they aren't aware that they aren't the first to ask, and it's not a criticism of the regulars because it's just human nature. Yes, there's a huge archive of data that can be searched through but people are too lazy to do that, or don't realise that it's available. You also get the situation where the regulars seem to form an elite that's difficult to penetrate, as implied by the original poster. It's not an elite - it's just a group of friends who know all the in-jokes, history and character of the other posters. It's no different to trying to join in with a group of friends down the pub who've been together for ages - it takes time to get to know them and be accepted as part of the group. Here you don't get the advantage of meeting people face to face and getting **** with them so it can seem that you're being excluded. You're not (unless you **** them off of course), but there's not really a lot you can do about it except join in. If you give of yourself then others will give in return.

  19. As I recall leeches were at one time the 'in' bait for catfish. The problem is getting them as they're only really available as medical leeches and cost accordingly. Mind you, they last a long time on the hook so you don't need many.
