  1. $25,000? And he paid $1200? I see a business plan All i need now are willing models......10% of profit paid for your trouble?
  2. Whilst i agree with the general opinion, i think that there is an argument for saying that some crime will be reduced by the introduction of ID cards. Many "minor" crimes are committed on the pretext of "i'll never be caught" - I know this from previously being employed as a Fraud Investigator with the Benefits Agency - often cited as motive. The introduction of ID cards could well assist the clear up rates of many "minor" crimes. As long as this is actively publicised (Which i believe it would - you can see the headlines now - "ID cards lead to prosecution of .......")A proportion of would be crims may decide that the risk is too great. So, reduce crime directly - unlikely - Increase clear up rates - quite possibly. As a question, does anybody know at what age ID cards would be required? If they are to be used as passports also, but are not compulsory until, say, 18 years old, what happens to "minors"? How does this work in other countries?
  3. Personally, I'd go North..... (Courtesy of Elvis Costello) The East has that Englishmen And the rising sun The West has the open plains And how they were won On Independence Day For all it's worth You can ring those southern belles I'm going North Up were the rushing rivers run and salmon leap I could even get there in my sleep Give me the ice and snow Time to go... North
  4. Go West.....Life is Peaceful there...... (Together) We will go our way (Together) We will leave someday (Together) Your hand in my hands (Together) We will make our plans (Together) We will fly so high (Together) Tell all our friends goodbye (Together) We will start life new (Together) This is what we'll do (Go West) Life is peaceful there (Go West) In the open air (Go West) Where the skies are blue (Go West) This is what we're gonna do (Go West, this is what we're gonna do, Go West)
  5. You could always move overseas Yoxer
  6. Thanks everybody. Judith, when my son was born 14 months ago, it was emergency c section - distress, cord round neck etc, under general anaesthetic. Would this birth likely follow the same pattern? Just wondering cause due to the circumstances last time, i wasn't alowed to be present
  7. Saddo? I often wonder what the people are like that happen to come across these sites.......How much searching does it take? What key words would you put in? Oh, by the way, 'spose i better congratulate you on lifting the trophy. Keep it clean, we'll want it back next year!
  8. Mmmmm - Myra - Don't think that is really an appropriate name, as for Myracle - It certainly is so could be a potential!
  9. Again! I'm now allowed to tell people. I've known for a few weeks now but sworn to secracy, but no more! Due 6th December, but judging by the already sizeable bump, think they may have the dates wrong Only problem is i'll need to change my display name..... JaMiMa is currently an acronym of JAmes my youngest (14 months), MIchelle - my wonderful partner, and MAtthew - my "step-son" (10 years). I need ideas for boy/girl names that will fit. Only one i can come up with is My - Myleene? Na. Mychael - don't like changing spellings! - But at least then I could have MyJaMiMa. Sort of still works. Any way, any ideas (and donations!)greatly considered. PS: Congrats to Bitsbob. It's worth every moment.
  10. Snatcher Just noticed from your profile that your in Whitley Bay! In laws live in Eleanor Street, just near the Metro?
  11. Not such a sissy now, spend two or three weekends a year up there and have done for past seven. In fact spent Easter Weekend there and what wonderful weather. Most of the in-laws are in Cullercoats/Whitley Bay, and some have now relocated to Howden/Wallsend? My partners parents were originally from the Meadowell?!!!! Bit nicer since they buldozed it (after the riots by all accounts) (before my time i might add). Not yet had the chance to cast any lines up there though........ The only continual problem i seem to face is the abundance of Magpie fans
  12. Mentioning that Snatcher reminds me of my first visit to North Sheilds, the rightful home of my better half. Being born and bred in Buckinghamshire, i favour the good old Queens English, and my evenings out are some what more refined than some "up north". Picture the scene. Posh Southern Sissy, out on the town with his lady. Group of Hard as nails Geordies in the corner. Now, i must confess the Geordies are without a doubt amongst the friendliest clans in the country, and didn't hesitate to make me feel comfortable. The night drags on and the brown stuff flows. Later in the evening one of said brawny brutes approaches me. Having taken a swing at him for calling my partner a Walrus, his friends are in fits of laghter - "Wor lass, he said, Wor Lass". How embarassed was I.
  13. In the interests of Humanity, (And our sanity?) why don't we put him on trial here? I propse Yoxer for the Defence, and Newt for the prosecution. Use a summary of "facts" (Say 10 each) and then the rest of us will decide the outcome. Could be fun
  14. I think you phrase it admirally awaaar. Best wishes everyone.
  15. quote: I know its all about the oil as to why we are quote: If someone would like to enlighten me as to why our troops are there I think you may have answered your own question Tyke. But you phrased it all very well! Every day the situation raises more questions. Whether we used Saddam as a scapegoat to enable the west (UK/US) to preserve oil reserves doesn't really matter now (IMO). Removing Saddam was the right thing to do. The question now should be what do the people of Iraq want? Until we can instill some form of democracy into the country nobody will ever know. But by continuing in the current manner, are "we" not becoming dictatorial? We all have our own opinions, and any one of us in the position of messrs Blair/Bush would probably attempt to proceed on the basis of "our" opinions. Who is right and who is wrong? Should our troops come home? Not yet in my opinion. "We" have started something and must finish it.
  16. I recall not to many years back plans for using multi coloured cats eyes. The idea being that if they were a certain colour, it would indicate that you were either too close to car in front, driving too fast, or there was an incident ahead. Is this the current incarnation of this idea?
  17. Newt Why not just skip the first two, hang him, and save all those taxpayers monies?
  18. quote: and check your reciept and see you spent £28.00 where did it all go! Straight into their profits
  19. Look what happens when a President gets elected in a year with a "0" at the end. Also notice it goes in increments of 20 years. 1840: William Henry Harrison (died in office) 1860: Abraham Lincoln (assassinated) 1880: James A. Garfield (assassinated) 1900: William McKinley (assassinated) 1920: Warren G. Harding (died in office) 1940: Franklin D. Roosevelt (died in office) 1960: John F. Kennedy (assassinated) 1980: Ronald Reagan (survived assassination attempt) 2000: George W. Bush (?) And what about this? Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946. Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. Both were particularly concerned with civil rights. Both wives lost their children while living in the White House. Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. Both Presidents were shot in the head. Now it gets really weird. Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln. Both were assassinated by Southerners. Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson. Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839. Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939. Both assassins were known by their three names. Both names are composed of fifteen letters. Now hang on to your seat. Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford'. Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford'. Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials. And here's the kicker....... A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland. A week before Kennedy was shot, he was in Marilyn Monroe. I would like to include a disclaimer at this point for any items that may only be alleged - such as Lee Harvey Oswald being the assasin.
  20. Especially for Gillies: Fast forward to 2006 - it is just before Scotland v Brazil at the next World Cup Group game. Ronaldo goes into the Brazilian changing room to find all his teammates looking a bit glum. "What's up?" he asks. "Well, we're having trouble getting motivated for this game. We know it's important but it's only Scotland. They're sh*te and we can't be bothered". Ronaldo looks at them and says "Well, I reckon I can beat these by myself, you lads go down the pub." So Ronaldo goes out to play Scotland by himself and the rest of the Brazilian team go off for a few jars. After a few pints they wonder how the game is going, so they get the landlord to put the teletext on. A big cheer goes up as the screen reads "Brazil 1 - Scotland 0 (Ronaldo 10minutes)". He is beating Scotland all by himself! Anyway, a few more pints later and the game is forgotten until someone remembers "It must be full time now, let's see how he got on". They put the teletext on. "Result from the Stadium "Brazil 1 (Ronaldo 10 minutes) - Scotland 1 (Angus 89 minutes)". They can't believe it, he has single handedly got a draw against Scotland!! They rush back to the Stadium to congratulate him. They find him in the dressing room, still in his gear, sat with his head in his hands. He refuses to look at them. "I've let you down, I've let you down." "Don't be daft, you got a draw against Scotland, all by yourself. And they only scored at the very, very end!" "No, No, I have, I've let you down... I got sent off after 12 minutes"
  21. And who can remember Gazza dancing his way fairy toed through the penalty box in '96? quote: Now that's all very well Guys, but who's the geezer in the picture?? Cos' it aint maradonna!! I think you will find it is the guy who used to play the little chap on "Fantasy Island" You know, "the plane ,the plane master!! And he's been dead a couple of years now!! Hervé Villechaize - Best known as Nick Nack in The Man With Golden Gun to a younger generation Speaking of Actors - Makelele for Chelski last night, class - 10/10
  22. In the late 80's my school reports consisted of an alpha numeric grading sytsem - A-D 1-5. A being excelent acheivement, 1 being maximum effort. Only two subjects ever acheived me an A grading, Religious Studies (A1) and Classical Studies (Greek mythology etc) (A4). The irony was, an A4 marking indicated maximum acheivement with very little effort. The teacher was spot on - I never even took this lesson!!! Another cracker was the Art class report. By the end of term two, third year much of the year group circulated their reports amongst themselves. Low and behold in about 90% of cases the reports were the same word for word with only the grades being changed. The wording - "(name of student) is progressing well". I did go to a Grammer School after all........
  23. Head to Head - Played three two draws, one win to Man Utd. Stats/Facts certainly don't lie!!! Trophies for 2003 (excluding the Charity Sheild ) Supposing things go to plan: One Each. You may win the battle my friend, but the war goes on each year.... Ummmmm, we all know what happened to Pompei, but that result aside, if it means the doom of Leeds and that other team down their that play in Blue with the posh new stadium - i'll even buy the video! PS: Congrats on a truly stunning season.
  24. awaaar, you're "heartless" ( and trebleless ) For Sale: One Arsenal dartboard season 03/04. Has no doubles or trebles. For Sale: Arsenal Treble Winners 2004 T-shirts, hats and scarves - never worn. For Sale: Two metres of trophy cabinet carpet, slightly dusty. Apparently, Reas(Sp.)is finding it hard to fit into the team. Rather than teach him French, Arsene decided it would be polite to encourage him by teaching the rest of the team some spanish........ I did not see the incident - No si el blatente elbowdo It looked like a penalty - Esta olympico diving campionos You want to room with Pascal Cygan? - ¿El wante crapos defendios? Or Ray Parlour? - ¿Qué, no girlé hairos? How about Sol Campbell? - ¿Homo el wante updias? There are no easy games - ¿Qué Sunderland? We'll go unbeaten - Muchos cockious It's still in our hands - Muchos shitipants It's not in our hands – Martin Keown We are still the best - Speakos mi arsos I am still committed to this club - Taxi para Airporto!
  25. ????? Reading the article, how could 3 missles, fired at range, hit and kill 40 people, without damaging the mosque? It's either a bl**dy big site, or they wern't actually near the mosque - therefore the mosque wasn't fired upon? One missle would have been enough to almost level such a building surely? This was three..... Maybe I am niaeve(sp), maybe just dis-illusioned, but a small part of me still clings to the hope that someone, somewhere, actually knows more than we do and that these "attacks" will, in history lessons to come be "justified". Consider - Nazi Germany. Until the war had "Finished", how many members of the public even considered such attrocities could have been inflicted? Imagine the outcome if the security forces broadcast the fact that they Knew what every terrorist, dictator, facist etc was upto. By their very nature such people are evil. Surely they wouldn't hesitate to cause the maximum pain and suffering they could if they felt the net was drawing in? Not to say the danger faced by the numerous operatives in positions of risk that are gathering such intelligence. If i awake in the middle of the night to find an intruder in my house, I would like to think i would fight first and ask questions later. If i see a man pestering a woman, same again. My child is "speaking" about an adult just a bit too often? The fists could fly. I maybe wrong, but if i take no action based on the evidence i have, how guilty would i feel then?
