  1. Fifty odd Quid - Steve Neville roller buzzers - last a lifetime - excellent after sales and the coolest thing on the bank, still!!! I use braid so don't need sensitivity controls etc anyway and use the £20 fox ones on/of beep! Perfect. But I will own a set of Steve's before long!! Rob
  2. Dan Don't know about 'Bait' fishing perhaps 'Bite' fishing would be more apt. We are developing an adhevsive absornt strip to place on the belly of the plug - not just for use with UB but other attractors / oils. I have some hollow Jelly lures here that have a solution that is squirted inside - the priciple behind this is for finicky fish that hit lures and spit them back out - Amercian Bass anglers reckoned that when the fish hit the lure bit down on it then got a shot of the Amino stuff it would think was perfectly natural and not let go!!! If you fancy joining us in the 22nd century we could do with as much feedback as possible. Rob
  3. Dan I've never used UB in the sea - like you my summer fishing is almost entirley done with lures for bass. The thing is we sponsor probably the best bass angler in Europe - Bertrand Gauje, and he'll be using it on his lures this summer - Oh! what to do?? Rob
  4. Hi all I help run and sponsor the Lymngton and District SFC Open Boat Species Comp - Last year we changed the whole format and instead of the usual junior prize we have set up a Junior competition to run alongside the adult comp. The main prize in the Adult section is £1000 - I was worried that this prize would probably stop adults bringing their kids because of the bigger prize - they wouldn't want the disraction of a youngster. The Junior comp was a great success with a few guys setting out to help their kids rather than go for the £1000. Our sponsors all thought it was an excellent idea and this year we have made it even bigger, we have a junior only charter boat that will be going out as well as the private boats. All the kids get something even if they don't catch and in years to come we would love to run it on a different day with more boat spaces availble for kids that aren't in the club or fortunate enough to have a fishing parent. Full details will be available shortly the date is Sunday 7th July. Rob
  5. Alan Sorry to stray a bit - but what if I had caught a load of Bass like that would Dan have changed his mind? Dan Geordie Dickinsons' boats were Artillery Man 1,2 and 3. My Dad went on the boat a few times in the 'Heyday' - an experience that I would have loved to have shared. If you listened and did what you were told you had an amazing day - if you didin't God help you. Rob Keeping an Open Mind!!
  6. Dan Just Keeping it Bo11ocks!!! Didn't the give it away? Rob
  7. Dan Just been out and landed 6 Bass over 15lb - all on Ultrabite soaked squid!!!!!! Rob Keepin' it Going
  8. I just hope the Ultrabite one proves to good not to use!
  9. Now that's a proper one!! Alan how about just e-mailing them the pic - a sort of reference point for next time. Rob
  10. Any fears anybody has anout the chemical element should not worry - the pheremones that have been identified have been replicated and not produced - the product is entirely safe for the enviroment and one of the ongoing projects is Ultrabites inclusion in an artificle bait that can be used in Pots / Longilines. Roger Bayzand also told me that when he visited the labs and was shown the reactions of various species that the Lobster was the most incredible - a couple of drops at the other end of the tank produced an immediate reaction - by the time time it had spread through the water a little the thing was dancing on its tail all over the tank - still they may have trained it There is already a scandinavian bait produced for the commercial market that is basically a sausage that you cut lumps off and use as bait (I saw Matt Hayes using it on a tightlines programme) This stuff is designed to have much longer scent trail, fish baits on longlines wash out very quickly, a longer release scent trail increases the efficeny of the gear. If there is a successful artificial bait created for the Potting industry it will certainly stop the Rape that goes on round here each winter - Boats trawling up tonnes of spawning flounder simply to use as potbait!!!! Rob [ 20 February 2002, 11:51 AM: Message edited by: RobT ]
  11. I posted a bit about this on the Sea Forum thread that Alan started. The smell of Ultrabite - and yes it certainly smells - it's nothing to do with the attraction properties of the Pheremones but just the smell of the base oil used to carry the goodies. Rob

  13. Just flicked today's AT and noticed a most laughable story regarding a 40lb cod caught from a private boat out of Poole. The bloke must be about 7 foot tall if that fish is anywhere near that weight - it looks about 25lb. A forty pound fish with no Roe (this fish is no gut bucket) would be over 4ft long - To my knowledge there has never been a forty pounder landed around here that isn't full of Roe, they certainly aren't the prettiest of fish. This fish was weighed at sea but the pics are quite obviously ashore - with the boat in the background - why did they not weigh it on dry land then?? And why did the AT print the story - looks just like the Giant Pike story of last year - use the story story to sell a few extra copies then defend the action when people question the authenticity. Another point the guy is a sales manger for Orkney boats - the fish was caught on a test trip - and guess what 'Orkney' is mentioned plenty in the story. Have a look and let me know what you think.. 14. Here! Here! Mr Taylor! It seems the Luddites are in town!! A days boat fishing cost's the best part of £50 if UB is going to give me a better day out for my money then i'll be happy to use it - it's 50p per vial - hardly the biggest con or cost of the century. Any one ever bought KM nuggets or CSL Pellets or Nash Rods (that's three examples from hundreds)? I'd also like to point out that the develpoment has not taken place for angling uses only - do you think a govt. dept would spend 3 million quid on something entirely for the recreational fishing market that it does it's best to ignore? We are the tip of a massive iceberg - it has been developed with massive fish farming operations in mind - maximum yeild in the least amount of time etc etc. Until proper tests have carried out by many parties no firm conclusions can be drawn. From reading Dragontwats comments I can only assume that he has already carried a detalied programme of trials using Ultrabite seeing as he had samples before it even hit the shops - I'd love to see your results - I take it you have some as you have a conclusion - "It will suit tackle tarts." The shops in my area are selling loads of the stuff - after the initial rush there are plenty of anglers that have consigned Ultrabite to the bin without a second thought - I wonder how many will be back on it when in the next year or so they are proved wrong and given the methods for sucess on a plate? I have a friend who is a marine biologist he has been working on the development of 'Ultrabite' since day one - when I hear the way he speaks about it (he gets none of the profits I must add) - with enthusiasm and constructive points and sceintific theories - I find myself falling on his side of the fence rather than on the side of an ignorant Dragonbat? whose conclusions were probably drawn up over the counter of a tackle shop on the premise that anyone with a few pounds to spend is not worth knowing!!
