Hi Rob, (same name as me) Im just a new starter to this site,but Ithink buy a warm coat,Agood set of waterproofs and just go fishing.If your putting tents up you aint catching fish.Plus you are always mobile and can move from place to place.

Thanks for that Gillies,appreciated.Ilike to freeline with old swan shot with live ragworm nicked behind the head(it wriggles like a devil) or decent sandeel and let it sink slowly,and just work it a little bit,the steam trains dont half hit them.thats where the carp rod comes in.Happy days.Must try a fly rod one day.I like the look of the area around Plockton but I,m like Buzz Aldrin on Mars.Anyway thankyou so much for the info and have fun when you next go out.

Hi,Sythor,Ihave o/s maps of the area and there looks some nice spots.but you cant beat local knowledge.Any hotspots you know of,I will be mainly spinning In the hope of decent pollock.Ive got to keep my gear to a minimum,you know what the women are like.So anything you could tell me would be greatly appreciated.

I live in the Durham area, but frequent scotland often, mainly the east coast. But Iam spending a fortnight round the Kyles of Localsh and might find some room for a carp rod to find some pollock. need info.
