  3. Nick - I'd echo most of what's already been said - lovely pics - particularly like the seascapes and skyscapes that have no signs of human involvement.. Let us know when the calendar's ready - I'd be interested in one... Chris

  9. Great bait for chub - freelined on a large hook. A couple of years ago I took a friend of mine fishing twas his first trip for 30 years so I took him somewhere easy (or so I thought). Anyway after 6 hours without a fish - and getting pretty bored he puts a ruddy great slug on a size 4 and lobs it into the margins. Result - and instant take and a 5lb common. Followed in the next hour by 3 more the same way.... So whilst they are a traditional river bait - don't discount them in stillwater.... Chris

  13. Cracking quote Bill - ought to add it to the quotations thread of a while back. As for fishing in wild weather I guess most of us have no choice. If you're restricted to weekends you've had all week to anticapte your trip and if you're like me will have your eyes glued to at least half a dozen weather forecasts and believe only the most favourable !! And still you'll go telling yourself that the fish won't get caught sitting at home!! Chris

AElfric's Colloquy written in Saxon times around 990 describes a fisherman using a hook and bait but doesn't confirm what bait was used!! Chris
