  1. You sound like a Canadian; that's what they say, anyhow. They're shopping here in droves now, taking advantage of the weak US dollar. Hey Newt, you call that cold? I've already been out ice fishing.
  2. Yes, and thank you and others for your time volunteered. This represented my first entry in the competition, and quite frankly, I was amazed at the quality of the photography entered by the participants. Really. If time permits I will make the effort again this month. Good stuff.
  3. Like your avatar, Colin.
  4. Look at those lips! Is Floyd kissing or jaw-jacking? Weigh-in article
  5. You know, if you live long enough you'll meet folks like that who you never, ever forget because they're so interesting and fun to be around. My good friend Dave - now deceased - was working an a building project with me in the early '80's, for an elderly Prussian couple who emigrated from Germany after the war. He was mocking the old man one afternoon by flashing me the nazi-salute and shouting "Heil, Hitler!". At that exact moment the old man appeared around a corner, then quickly vanished. Dave was embarassed; I was in stitches. He tended to do a lot of things without considering the consequences. Another time he told me he was working down in Houston in a factory and cut himself badly on a machine. Several black co-workers appeared and gaped at him; in his anguish and pain he shouted, "You fcuking ni**ers!" Fortunately for him, they didn't thump him. At least, that's what he told me.
  6. Funny stuff, Ken. So, how did he describe Brits and Irishmen?
  7. Tell me, what do you call blacks over there, the PC version? African American is considered proper here, although the term black is still heard on occasion. In fact, black friends I've had don't mind this term. When I was a kid it was common to hear colored and negro. No more.
  8. Hembo, you Putz. Can't wait to use it.
  9. Most likely. Maybe they kicked his a**, too.
  10. The Kern County, California, Sheriff's Department orders plain white patrol units and has the graphics applied locally. In this case, what they ordered was not quite what they got. This car was driven for 1 week before an officer noticed what the graphics company employee did on the passenger side of the car. The employee did this on his last day working for the graphics company before he retired.
  11. Hopefully it will be like the Hagler/Hearns bout of 1985, when they stood toe-to-toe and traded rocks. Remember this one? Youtube Video ->
  12. I was wondering when someone would start this thread. This should be an excellent fight, unlike the Mayweather/DeLaHoya show of last spring. Mayweather's speed versus Hatton's power. Mayweather may be slipping after an 11-year run as an undefeated prizefighter. He apparently has hand, back, and shoulder issues, but has commented that Hatton might also have issues with age and deterioration. Mayweather is 30, Hatton is 29, so retirement can't be far off for both fighters. Mayweather "retired" once, and Hatton's trainer has said he wants Hatton to fight no more than three more times. Still, I think both will bring everything they have to this fight. Mayweather is from my hometown of Grand Rapids, MI, so I've followed his career from the start. Is he a great boxer? Yes. He's quick as a cat. He's also a horse's a**, and it wouldn't bother me one bit to see Hatton loosen his teeth and take the belt from him, due to his numerous personal behavior issues. You can't help but like Hatton and his self-deprecating humor, and he certainly has a chance to win, even if the oddsmakers in Vegas have made him a 2-1 underdog. I may even pay to see this one. Any one of you Islanders going to stay up until 2 AM Sunday to watch it?
  13. Wow. The title "moron" just doesn't do justice to either blonde.

  20. Ole was walking home late at night, through the park, and sees a woman in the shadows. "Twenty dollars," she whispers. Ole had never been with a hooker before but decides, as it's only twenty bucks, he can't afford to miss out. So they go into the bushes. They're going at it for a minute when all of a sudden a light flashes on them -- a police officer. "What's going on here, people?" asks the officer. "I'm making luff to my vife, Lena," Ole answers indignantly. "Oh, sorry," says the cop. "I didn't know." "Vell," says Ole, "I din't neder, 'til you shine dat light in her face."
