  1. I wish I had some decent Bass round the Forth area Sam. I can target Bass OK and catch them easily from the power stations but they're mostly very small - with the very occassional bigger fish. Can be good fun though on light gear as long as you can block out the idiots filling bin bags with them  I know other areas have better Bass to target though and at some stage I'll try and give them a go. I think that compared to other regions of Scotland the fishing on the Forth is nothing special!

Chris, Try here: http://translation.langenberg.com/ Danish to English web page converter is found in the dialogue box right at the bottom. As you'd expect it's not exact but you get the idea of the article. It might take a few attempts to get a translation depending on how many users are online. To be honest though I think it's just a cute way for them to try and flog their software Hope this helps mate
  3. This isn't a criticism (far from it) but is it just me or has this thread gone way beyond 'general scottish sea angling'? My experience of sea angling in Scotland (and I'd imagine many other forum members) doesn't come close to the species, locations etc. which some of you are talking about. If this is what you guys take as 'general' then you are incredibly fortunate to have/have had such opportunities. Maybe some day... Anyway I'm off to bash some mackies
  4. As one of the ones who took the hump with your original post cheers for clearing a few things up I've actually enjoyed what you've had to say in additional posts - very interesting stuff.
  5. Well done mate. Nice fish! Way bigger than the schoolies we tend to get round here. Let's hope it's the first of many
  6. Seriously though mate. What exactly is your point here? To knock the forum? To knock certain individuals - many of whom provide excellent advice? To take the p*ss out of some of the very commendable conservation efforts being made by members? To seriously promote the excellent fishing here in Scotland? Or is it as I expect from reading your post several times - a shameless self promotion exercise? [ 15. July 2005, 09:18 PM: Message edited by: 101_North ]
  7. B*gg*r th*s! This is what happens when you try and post from work! Duplicate posts popping up all over the shop [ 15. July 2005, 04:16 PM: Message edited by: 101_North ]
  8. Don't ask [ 15. July 2005, 04:12 PM: Message edited by: 101_North ]
  9. We can always find out mate. Disneys version of 'Chicken Little' is due out this year [ 15. July 2005, 04:12 PM: Message edited by: 101_North ]
  10. That was Chicken Licken. The fox kills them all in the end. Same tale I think mate. Seems to depend where you come from what name the chicken has. English version is Chicken Licken but the US seems to be Chicken Little [ 15. July 2005, 03:32 PM: Message edited by: 101_North ]
  11. I believe Chicken Little was a nursery rhyme character who was worried about the sky falling
  12. There's good Mackerel catches from the shore already on the Edinburgh side. North Berwick was fishing well from the rocks at the golf club on Saturday (pollack and coalfish too) and there were a good number of fish being caught at Granton Harbour yesterday. HTH [ 14. 13. Took myself over to North Berwick today for a short session. It was good to get my first mackerel of the season (last year year I got 0 from the shore - hard to believe but true). Plenty about today plus a good few small pollack and coley. I wish I'd had a camera for my highlight of the day. I've never seen a porpoise before but was treated to about 4-5 rising about 25yds out for about 10mins - fantastic! This might be common place in other areas ( or even here) but is something I've never seen and to be honest it made my day [ 10. July 2005, 11:54 AM: Message edited by: 101_North ]
  14. Hi Jim, Welcome to the forum mate. Good to see another Scottish member on here. Hopefully you'll find this board as useful as I have. With regards to Cork I can't help much but someone else probably can. In the meantime you could visit http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org and have a look. It's got a section on shore marks and the forum seems to be quite lively. I'd be surprised if you didn't get the information you were after. Good Luck
  15. This really puts the nonsense in Edinburgh this week into perspective! Just wanted to pass on my thoughts to all those on this forum who have been affected by this atrocity.
  16. I've actually just finished reading the report and came on the forum to post about the complete lack of RSA's mentioned. Spanner - you beat me to it. Looks like we've spent at least part of today posting each others thoughts I have kept a close eye on some of the work being done in Scotland and I was really encouraged by some things I read on here. In fact on 3rd May Ian posted the following: http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/cgi-bin/ubb/ul...ic;f=2;t=004764 Seemed to be very encouraging news. I can't help feeling a little bit deflated after this report
  17. Thanks for the link to the full article mate. Haven't had a chance to read it yet but will this evening. Cheers
  18. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4629249.stm The report to be published today could make some interesting reading. There are also a few quotes in there which could spark a large debate on their own e.g. "Bertie Armstrong, chief executive of the SFF, said concerns about conservation must not be allowed to endanger the industry." Doesn't seem to be much evidence in this BBC report that RSA's are being taken into consideration although I'll wait and see the publication in full. Thought this might be of interest. Cheers
  19. That's worth knowing mate as the rag I was using were shop bought. I'll maybe troll through the forum archives and find a better method of storing them overnight. Edit: Just found the post 'Ragworm woes'. Just thinking out loud but maybe the same issue with my shop bought rag? Who knows [ 28. June 2005, 08:21 AM: Message edited by: 101_North ]
  20. Welcome on board. I hope you find this forum as useful as I have since I joined. Some of the advice is first rate.
  21. You could try the bulletin board on: http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/ Has a very good forum.
  22. I had a go with the baiting needle last night - apologies Sam but it's not going in the bin just yet What I did notice was that I didn't burst as many worms as usual - and I did reckon that the overall presentation was maybe better. On the downside though I don't think the extra time it took to bait up was worth it and I still struggled sometimes to get the worm over the eye of the hook and up the line a bit - I find that they often turn in on themselves - bait needle or not! At 30p it was a cheap way to learn a few things I didn't know beforehand. It'll be staying in my tackle bag as I'm sure it will come in handy at some point. Cheers Oh and I had an enjoyable few hours fishing and finished with a couple of nice codling
  23. You might be right mate. I'll give it a go and see what I make of it - I may end up taking your advice and putting it in a bin
