  1. Sounds like an epic adventure GB, let us know when you get all together, I'm sure that some of the guys on here will cough up a few quid to get you started. SM
  2. Good job fella, nice touch with the security eye for your cooler. Would love to pinch a couple of the shots for AnglersAfloat if that's OK SM
  3. I believe Mr Everett is still using a chain to measure the depth or has he finally got his Humminbird working SM
  4. I'm a definite maybe, will check with she who must be obeyed tonight! SM
  5. Hopefully we will be lucky like last season, the cold weather didn't hit until Christmas Is that a Dark Green Heritage in the picture (second from left) ? SM
  6. Sorry can't make it along for this one, hope to get out with Nutty on Sunday in the Hamble if he's able to stay an extra day. SM
  7. TPW, The Caper is quite lighte and I just walk up the ladder holding the Caper on my head, it's quite easy really, coming down just slide it back onto my head and walk back down. Chas62, I have a pop top camper so am limited to the amount of weight that I can place on her, the mounts that I use are really for surfboards, but have been using it for 3 years now with the Caper and no problems. The Prowler 13 will actually fit from corner to corner so I tend to rig up the night before, even the rods and just slide her out onto her wheels, really easy. Boomphat, T25 is a VW Van the old Wedge shaped version, early eighties to early nineties. Make a great Camper version, bigger engines than the old bay windows, mine has a 2.1 fuel injection, goes like stink.... well for a van anyway. SM
  8. Palm Sidewinder Bib and Brace with 4 season cag are what you require if you want to be able to pee at sea, alternatively a nappy Fished through last winter no problems at all, wear a wickable base layer and micro fleece under the cag and normal socks under the fitted booties, will be getting a pair of thermal socks for this winter as my feet were the only part to suffer from the cold... boots were a little tight and not helping so will be replacing them as well. SM
  9. Quite fancy this myself, was hoping to get there earlier this year but ran out of time. Please put me down for a definite maybe. Sm
  10. It's a great little magazine, occasionally a bit from the UK in it... they are always looking for good articles from the UK. SM
  11. First thing your doing it the right way for a single yak, straps shouldn't need tightening up too much, just enough to stop her slipping around, if your denting the deck sounds like you might be going a little too tight, any dents should pop out in the sun. Even if mounted on their side can cause denting depending on which make/model of kayak and the thickness of it's skin, again these will pop out given time and enough sun. If the kayak is stored hull down or on thin rails, then expect dents, these can be permanent so take care when storing and store deck or side down. I stick my Caper on the roof of my T25 occassionally use a pair of steps and balance on my head. Barramundi is about my height (wrong side of 5' 7") and puts an old board bag on the back of his VW van and pushes his Prowler and Scupper on from the back, he has a ally ladder with thick padding which he uses to climb up and strap, makes it look easy. My Prowler 13 goes in the back of the T25, a couple of weeks ago I did manage to push it a little hard and cracked the windscreen @£$%$£. There are various gizmo's available to make loading easier such as : http://www.kari-tek.co.uk/ SM
  12. You need to add approximately 22% to cover the VAT and Customs, Couriers also add around £8 for delivering and admin costs (liberty I call it ), occassionally you might get one that slips through (a bonus I call it ). SM
  13. That's a lovely looking Bass, good to see it going back. Friendly word of warning, not all those that visit the forums are there for the sport, take care when discussing Marks openly, next time out you could be met by a net. It's happening all over, lots of problems in the Dorset areas at the moment, the same in North Wales. Many of my local marks are being fished heavily by the commercials. SM
  14. Lovely looking plaice Zzippy, looking forward to my first on the yak. SM
  15. Meon Springs is child friendly, both my kids have had fish from there, but they started when they were five and had casting lessons. Been told that a child shouldn't cast for longer than 15 minutes as it can cause serious damage to their young wrist joints. They now have a whip each that they fish with, both have had carp, bream, dace, tench and of course the rainbows so far this year. Better than there old dad. SM
  16. The guys on the stand showed me the one you went for, sweet how you going to fit that transducer... Epoxy, Vaseline, or Water, or are you going to just dangle it over the side. Something that was of interest was that transducer is the same for many of the models, so if you have a pair of kayaks you can swap and change the displays, ie, buy a cheap one and an expensive one, wife has the cheap one on her yak, you can have the Colour one, and swap when you want to use her Pink Venus. Johnson's are going to send me a list of compatable models. Sm
  17. Fins are flexible so should take the odd knock, in the upward locked position they only protrude a few inches and shouldn't cause any problem. Tankwell is vast and wide, but shallow as are the flushmounts which would require the rods being secured at all times. Something worth considering is that yes it's a fast kayak, but tidal rips are likely to be faster... a lot faster. Was hoping to give her a peddle yesterday, but my wife had other ideas... damn it! SM
  18. Final details are still unclear, as the NZ boats are still evolving along with the fittings. I did have a good look at the FishFinder mount and associated bits and pieces, quality bits of kit, bespoke power cables with gland, and OK are also hoping to be able to supply with a shorter Transducer cable, there are some problems associated with shortening this cable, but they are hoping to overcome them in the near future. SM
  19. I have a Casio with tidal range on it, very useful with the limited spare time that I have, although set up correctly it's about an hour out for high water, not a bad thing as it gives me longer fishing time as I'm always an hour early We had a watch similar to that shown at work, it had a digital compass, bloody marvelous, sadly the client was given it. At the right price I think they are a great gizmo, plus they tell the time as well... genius, being Casio, the battery will last for ever. SM
  20. Good to hear the fella is OK, when he pops over, tell him that Starvin says hi and ask if he's finished those skirting boards Sm
  21. I believe there will be three versions of the Elite, Andrew is going to explain the full breakdown to me at the Boat Show Tomorrow, I'll report back. SM
  22. Good idea to bide your time on purchasing your finder, many of those that have had a full season with their chosen model are starting to have problems, mostly with the electrical connections, pins being eaten away etc, keep an eye out on the posts and ask about when your ready to buy, beware that some of the manufacturers don't recommend their products for use on kayaks. SM
  23. Hamble River Mr Darnsarf, we need to get ourselves down there for a Mullet session. Love a bit of madness SM
  24. Hi Trooty, Have just taken delivery of a Hobie Adventure from the UK Distributors, Sea Swan Products based in Carmarthenshire. Don't belive that the Revolution has hit our shores yet, hope to get my hands on one as soon as they do. Meantime I'll be giving the Adventure a bit of a test. Speak to Mark or Paul on 01554 785114, tell them Dave from AnglersAfloat put you onto them. With regard to your wrist problem have you considered a crank shafted paddle, you may find it easier. SpeciMan if you still want to have a go give me a shout, we can meet up somewhere. SM
