    The Dvice

I thought the price to be OK especialy when you take into account time, materials, manufacturing costs, marketing, wholesale etc I think biggest fear is the loss of the dvice, something that I have been considering as to how to attach a rotten link to it for use over roughish ground. I am sure with a bit of addaptation this would be reasonably simple to achieve.

    The Dvice

Hi Martin This was the whole point of my post being vauge. There is quite a bit of info on the web but most of it is comercial based, promoting the sale of the "D-Vice. On the face of it, it looks very convincing and I certainly am going to give it a testing on a beach where delicate soft baits such as sprats, razor, shell fish etc, should produce results at distance! But thats another posting later.

Looks like an impresive invention, but as they say the proof is in the eating! Has any one tried it and what is thier opinion? PhilC
  4. I would like to add my observations on this one. I to have fished for both, sea and fresh water, although freshwater since I was 6years old and sea for the last four years. Being a market trader I fish Chesil beach most days during the summer period. What I have observed there is most disturbing, Holiday makers who heave out mackerel by the dozen, with cheap rods and reels purchased from the market stalls, carrier bags full to the brim, fish being left, shaken off the hook to die on the beach without being dispatched properly. Its manic, they fish and fish and fish and don’t stop. Then of course they drive away leaving all their rubbish behind leaving the beach like a bomb site. I like bass fishing and therefore go down after work, occasionally I will have a few chucks catch around 10 fish (2 for breakfast 8 for bait) back to the van for tea and when the holiday makers have gone, back down for some serious bass fishing. Don’t get me wrong not all are holiday makers and there are some serious anglers down there as well. But it is these people the holiday grocks who are giving the serious angler the bad name. Now to fresh water, I have never seen this attitude displayed by any angler; most treat their quarry with the utmost respect whether it is a small roach, a quality tench, carp or bream. Wet cloths all the time, unhooking mats, and with the use of barbless hooks no damage to the mouths. It’s a sad fact but it is true. Regards Phil.
  5. The rather naf hand warmers work for me for about 20 mins and then they add no extra warmth, a flask is much better (with soup inside is even better). The sitting on the bank on an insulated layer is a really important way to conserve heat, and remain hidden from view. One thing you might like to try, is those heat packs that you can get for arthirits, they are air activated and heat up to 54/60 degrees, the thing i like about them is they last for upto 8hrs. You can sometimes buy the very cheaply from these large discount stores, around the £1/£2 mark with two in a pack, they work realy well inside your boots, if you keep your feet warm then the body tends to follow suit. Cheers Phil
  6. Hi this post caught my attention, I used to go to school up there at kinloch rannoch, and fished the tummel for many years, but never heard of grayling being caught. mind you that was *cough* many years ago *cough* Is this a new addition to the river or have they been there for years? Cheers Phil
  7. "Approved by Elton prior to posting" Happy New year Folks. I am about to launch a new product on to the market place this year and wonder if you good fellows and lassies would partake in a bit of market research? Let me paint the picture so to speak. You have just caught and photographed that amazing catch, of course you are proud as punch and want to show all your friends, you go to your local pub and tell your mates, the words "lord let me catch a fish so big that even I need not lie" come to mind. Some of your friend say "oh I ! pull the other leg wheres your proof, you lift your jumper and point to a buckle on your trousers displaying in all it glory a full colour picture of the above, there you are holding your amazing memory for all to admire. By now I think you have the idea, I am about to launch the first DIY photo buckle, any photo, image, design, atrwork in a buckle. and yes you can do this all your self simply quickly and with out mess. Other uses may be as part of a club award or prize for being the top angler, the list and versatility is endless and is realy only limited by the imagination. This is one area I need feeed back on as to wether it would make an acceptable tropy. So folks what are your opinions. If you check my website it shows some basic pictures of things to come. http://www.koolbucklez.co.uk Please note it is not up for sale yet as it is still in the manufacturing stage. Once again tight lines and lets hope 2009 is an improvement on 2008 Regards Philip

  11. Hi Folks Back once again for another season, just reading the posts and must admit thing seem alitle dire to say the least. I have been fishing other waters especialy the west coast around croyde, ilfracome etc, I was starting to doubt my ability to catch fish, but it seems to me as if we are all in the doldrums. where have all the fish gone???!!!! There doesnot seem to be one decent catch report anywhere of any consistency. But as always we live in hope, am doing the steamfair this weekend up at portland so hope to spend a day or two down bexy and charmouth. You know the saying if you see a big yellow daf come over and say hi! kettles always on. Regards to you all PhilC
  12. I still think if we had beach police that watched the culprits and then clamped thier cars untill they cleared up the rubbush and of course the release fee. where there is a need there must be some kind of buisness soloution to this? Companies sprung up clamping cars surley a clever buisness type person could come up with somthing, after all littering is susposed to be againt the law. Imagine the rubbish cam, drop a piece of rubbish and flash you are caught £10 for every can. I know this sounds daft but probably not as daft as you think. We all know the hotspots where this happens, Bexy, Abbs etc. Common whos got some bright ideas. Phil
  13. Thsi is uasualy a ploy used for the holiday makers, I have come accross this in tackle shops down chesil way/swanage. they dissapear in to the back and come out with it already wrapped. They get quite annoyed when you ask to see it (a sure sign of guilt) normaly followed by the excuse "thats all we got left mate" I now ask what is the quality of your worm? this normaly gets you to the better stuff normaly reserved for the local and regulars. another good question is "is you bait dragged up or hand selected" again a good guide to quality bait. Once you find a good supplier its plain sailing from there and once you become a regular it gets better. regards PhilC
