  1. I went about 5 years age, to Kusadasi. I got mild dysentery which took me 3 months to get rid of. The only person we knew that didn't get anything was a young boy who lived on burgers and chips, without salad. May I suggest sticking to deep fried foods or steaks. Beef does not carry germs on the inside (unlike pork, chicken) so if it is cooked only for a short time, bacteria should have been wiped out. But as Hembo has said, eat where the affluent locals eat but still steer away from salad as it is washed in local water. Also keep away from ice cubes where possible.
  2. The Isle of Avalon does exist. You just have to know when to look for it.
  3. Try taking piriton. Helps most allergies.
  4. Hi Jay I'm a new fisherman and recruit here too. Hope you are as lucky as me in your first few fishing trips.
  5. There is a decent campsite behind a pub called the Duke of Edinburgh in Bacton. Close by (10 minute drive) is a place called Gimingham with 3 lakes.
  6. Hi RE the landing net; the guy fishing next to me (who may I add said the tench was a tiddler) came over with his landing net. I didn't think I needed such things as I only caught tiny roach before. RE the camera; it's a Fujifilm finepix A310 set to high quality.
  7. OK then. With all the info I have now, I will go off and catch me some Tench. Thank you all for the help. You all seem to be a good bunch on here. I will keep you informed of results.
  8. Its funny that you should call the lakes Brooklands. I have always known them as Ellingham Lakes. Lived in Greenhithe all my life and thats what everyone called them.
  9. Did you frequent the livlier pubs when you were there? Villa Bar? Coach & Horses?
  10. I live near Dartford in Kent. Does anyone know where I can fish for tench in that area, without joining a club?
  11. Here's the tench http://www.go-fishing.org/upload/files/DSCF0048.JPG
  12. All info is welcome. After I caught the tench, I have decided that that is the fish I want to go for (at this time, anyway). I have looked at websites about tench fishing for ideas i.e. depth and setting the line weights etc. All I think I actually need is the essentials at the moment; mat, umbrella, landing net and keepnet. Oh, and a lot of luck. I understand that for tench fishing I need to fish at the bottom, have a lead weight about 8 inches from the hook so that the bait is away from the hanging line, use red maggot and let the float bob up and down and wait until it actually sinks fast before striking. Is this right?
  13. Thanks for the info, Allibee I have a rod, reel, 2 sizes of hook, 4 floats, a bait box and a pair of scissor things to take out the hooks. Thats it. After cating the perch and the 15 inch tench, I have the bug to go more and catch bigger. i will certainly be visiting an angling shop in the near future to kit myself out. I just feel like an idiot sometimes when I have to ask silly questions about what I need for this and that to a shop assistant.

  15. Thankyou It's quite fitting as its a tourist tea towel from the area that the fish was caught. Pure accident, intentional would have been quite sad!
