  1. HI gudgeonkid the way i do my casters is, as soon as i get maggots from shop is to riddle them of and get rid of the rubbish. put them in a cat tray and cover with fine sawdust. for every pint of maggots i generally use 1pt of sawdust to every pint of maggots. then add enough water to slightly dampen dust (not to much or they will climb out) leave in shed for a day and riddle off again and throw away. from then on riddle out every couple of hours and put them into a plastic bag takeing the air out or they will float. rap bag in news papper and place them in a fridge. i find when you rap them in paper they turn a nice dark colour and are nice and crisp.

  3. Well stewart my local shop has cottend on to this and was selling frozen maggots for £2 a pint. so p****d of with the prices they charge i am seriously thinking of printing this page off and showing him what every one else is paying. at the end of the day he has got us over a barrel
  4. thanks for the offer Bluezulu I Was thinking about asking if somebody could do me the honours and send me some but thought that they would not travel very well. I will get hold of WMAC and see if they will do me some mail order. at £1 a pint it's got to be worth a chance even if half die

  6. good luck to you all can't wait for the stories to be posted of big catches, and no doubt al the puns to boot. as a new member to A.N i was wondering if any moor fish-ins are arranged as would love to come along to fish with you all. also it would be nice to put faces to names.

  8. I no that they put a fairamount of salt in the making of bread so may have an effect on the worm. i've got some worm and brown crumb will have to experiment will let you no results :confused: had a look at the braddocks site Rudd! great site ordered some bits can't wait to get out and try them

  10. I'm off to north Norfolk soon and and would like to now if some one can give me an idea of an additive i could put into my groundbait for bream. I intend to use brown crumb laced with corn,pellet,chop worm. i thought about adding brasam but have been tolled that only use that in summer. any addvice would be helpfull thanks.

Just watched the london news and after the heavy rain last night effluent has yet again flowed into the Thames. i can't beleave at this day of age that this can still happen.with winter not here and worse weather to come is this going to happen every time it rains! if so will the fish stocks will be wiped out? it seems that the water authority has failed to invest in suitable procedures for this. hope things don't go back like it used to be on the Thames
  12. i whent on holiday to belton in norfolk this year and looked around a small lake. looked at the rules on the notice board and an big letters no loose feed of any sort.

  15. I just can't believe hte price differences looks like worms for me from know on as worms direct is only a mile away from me and at £15 a kilo for dandra's seems a better deal. as it appears the maggot price around here is dear thanks for your time in replying everyone
  16. yes fisherman i was 6 at the time of the change over still. my dad has just said he never thought he would see the day when a pint of maggots would cost more than a pint of beer. he's on half pints know (maggots that is)

  20. Hi all i was wondering how much some of you were paying for maggots! as my local takle shop is charging £2.90 a pint. which seems a bit expencive be intrested to now if anyone payes more
  21. hi all has any one ever tried to freeze casters with any success as i turned two pints for last sunday and only used a few. it seems a shame to just throw them away. I now some people freeze maggots to put in ground bait wondering if same can be done with casters
