I'm still not sure, is Shaun going with us too? If so I'll be at work in Leith and finish at or before 4pm and can collect him on an only slightly round about way to Norrie's. If you are able to get away earlier, I will be able to, too. Cheers Mike
  2. Shaun, are you going up with Norrie too? If so I can probably give you a lift to Norrie's. Which is a good point, Norrie what time are we setting off?
  3. Thanks Norrie for organzaning the B&B that's a fantastic price! I can't wait, but is it true that Shaun sleep walks
  4. Back to work today, and the forecast for Saturday is 25mph winds, so I guess that boat trip will be cancelled. :( Looks like Scrabster will be my second boat trip, so Paula, I'll have some catching up to do. Can't wait... Mike
  5. A bit of everything for me too, please.
  6. Thanks everyone. I'll put a few turns of mono on then the whole 300 yards. And thanks for the tip about the broom handle, I hadn't though about that, 30lb mono is hard enough to break if it snags. Something for me to do after Christmas Lunch and sleeping through the Queen
  7. Santa is bringing me an Abu 7 multiplier (my first multiplier). I'm going to put 30lb braid on it. How much backing should I put on the spool first. I'll be using the reel for boat fishing... I've got 300 meters of braid, but I don't think I'm likely to be fishing that deep.
  8. I probably live about 100 yards from the Forth Estuary with three rows of houses in betweem. However if predictions are correct I should be just about as close as Bob within the next 50 years.
  9. Yup I'll do that too. And white pudding, Edinburgh rock, Monarch of the Glen
  10. French wine is rubbish anyway, I havn't knowingly drunk or bought it for years. Single malt whisky however is a different matter. And don't forget that Japan, another producer of whiskey, hunts whales. If you want to boycott something Scottish why not choose oil. Leave your car at home and cycle instead. demon
  11. On a boat in January? frosty Coffee with a good shot of Grouse in it. Or Glayva. Hmmmmmmm Glayva Beer (not lager) or red wine for me. Though I'm sure I can find space for a bottle or two to bring with me.
  12. I'd be up for shore fishing on the Sunday, assuming of course that Norrie and Davy want to.
  13. Food is my speciality, or at least making sure it doesn't go to waste... Yes, please book me a room too, I'm getting too old to sleep on floors. Is my 12/20 rod going to be fine for this trip, or should I get myself something a bit beafier? Cheers mike
  14. Yup that's no bother at all. Thanks Norrie (and Dave) Cheers Mike
  15. I'd be interested too, particularly if I can get a lift. (Have you got space Norrie or are you interested Kenny?) Hopefully Santa will have brought me a nice reel to go with my new boat rod. Mike
  16. Fishing Loch Fyne on board Keltic Lady from Ardrishaig. This was my first boat trip in many years. On a beautiful calm day the skippers wife kept making tea and coffee and the fishing was great. Haddock, dabs, whiting, lesser spotted dogfish, makerel, and some undersized cod were caught by the nine club members. Our own KennyC won the day's competition with 19 fish caught. I managed 4 sized fish, 2 haddock and two LSDs. I was also lucky enough to get the biggest fish of the day, one of the LSDs was 2lb 8oz and 69cms Can't wait for the next trip...
  17. Hi, I've been to North Queensferry a couple of times recently and not got even a bite (but I am a beginner too). I'm told you might catch coalfish, flounder, bass, sea trout there. I've had more luck fishing at or near Culross, catching school bass and eels. Crombie is supposed to be good for flounder (according to last months Total Sea Angling magazine. Burntisland (though not the pier, it has a greedy seal) is quite good, possibility of coalfish and codling there and mackerel in the summer. If you have chance there is a tackle shop on Bruce Street in Dunfermline (Deals on Reels). They will give you a couple of pages of places to try. Including Kincardine and Grangemouth, which are both closer to you. Cheers Mike
  18. Shaun, if Inverbervie is not on is there somewhere on your side of the Forth. I could collect you if you don't have transport. Kenny's not sure whether to go to Inverbervie anyway.
  19. Does that mean the rag that I've got isn't going to be much use? The last forecast I saw was for light North Easterlies tomorrow and moderate Easterlies on Sunday and high water is about midday ish. Are you going too?
  20. Shaun, I'm not too proud to admit I havn't got a scooby. So if you do tie up a few extra rigs that would be great. I got some mussels the easy way today, care of Tesco. They are in a nice net bag in the fridge... I should have plenty of bait, and I've got enough lead to do an average church roof. I've got elastic thread too and some idea what to do about rotten bottem set up. Mike
  21. Thanks Shaun, I've got rag, frozen black lug, and squid. I'll see if I can get any mussels tomorrow. I've given up on digging lug. My back just isn't up to it
