  1. thanks for the reply, i went to oare marsh today, nice place for a walk, there were two blokes fishing out in the water in a little dinghy. didnt stay long enough to see how they did. i have had a few blokes mention the swale as a good spot for bass in the summer, down by the bridge. i have tried twice with no success; wait another month and go to alhallows i think
  2. i usually fish the thames estuary but i might have a go down at oare opposite the harty ferry, also having just looked on streetmap i see the swale narrows down a bit good idea for bass? or possibly at seasalter where you would be in the mouth of the swale, and in open sea, thoughts anyone? iam just popping down there now as easter treat for the wife! should be a nice walk anyway

    Real Fishing

elton, i can reccomend a good chiropractor, in case you sustained any back injuries landing the beast.
  4. when fish start coming in again from the shore, hopefully we will have more posts about fishing, which is the reason i look on this site. people seem to enjoy venting their frustration about overfishing and the decline in fish stocks ,personally if it is what you want to do then carry on. those in westminster care nothing for fish or fishermen enjoy what is left of our beloved sport, while there is still pouting to be caught. good luck to all
  5. saw my dad last week, he lives at hoo, someone told him that two four pound bass were caught at gravesend last week, i find that unlikely, anyone heard ?
  6. this stuff about fishing being cruel ; are we not a christian country? was not jesus a fisherman, (well ok a carpenter, but he did not discourage the eating of fish!) and ok i would rather go fishing than go to church, but i like to think of myself as a christian with a small c. basically the anti fishing movement are unchristian, well who do they stand for? the poor defenceless fish? fish will eat each other without a second thought, that is the diet of most fish, why should we be apologetic about , a; catching them?b:eating them?
  7. Sam, i can see that i was a little sketchy in my description of where this caravan park is; when i said opposite southend pier, i meant the other side of the river, alhallows! sorry for any confusion, i figured if there are bass showing mid april it might be worth going. we fished one side of the haven park three or four times last year caught bass each time not world beaters, but good fun. i reckon if bass are about at southend they should be at allhallows sorry again for confusion; i will make the trip to southend pier sometime this year maybe catch up with you sam
  8. sam i am thinking of going for a small three day break in april, to a little caravan park opposite southend pier; i have never fished the thames that time of year if you could give your opinion on whether any bass might be about then? it is a good fun bass mark in the summer, i know you are big on southend pier know how? i would have sent you an email but i thought others might be interested .
  9. not only the weather codroamer it is the likely poor catch. i am going to wait for the bass to turn up, good luck mike
  10. i fished there two weeks ago and my mate caught some codling 3 and 1/2 and 2 lb but we went again two weeks later and only got 1 doggie between us for 8 hours fishing. only advice i can give you is use plenty of squid, good luck
  11. this is the type of post we want; about fishing that we all love, all the crap trips are forgotten, when you get a magic moment. like sam said, when my boy catches i am more pleased than him, tight lines all.
  12. hey there k2 me and a mate went last night 2pm to 8pm one doggy between us, which was the fish of the night on the lower section, we had a good night a couple of weeks back but thats fishing. used black lug, rag, and loads of squid. lost nine rigs between us. kept thinking of summer bass fishing in the thames estuary last year; in my seat with my shorts on, no snags, no lost tackle, roll on the summer!
  13. nice post, shame about the lack of fish. what a sunset
  14. went to deal pier wednesday night fished from three oclock to nine thirty. my mate caught a 3to4 lb cod on the first cast on squid/lug cocktail, had a quiet spell after that five rods between us. my mate then caught another codling about 2lb say 6 oclock, had lots of little stuff dab & small whiting then it started to snow! another angler caught three codling all 2 to 3 lb then my mate again hooked a nice one, as soon as it broke the water it got off about 8 oclock ( high water 9 ish) then my boy sam got a codling about 2lb, I got only little stuff but had a good evening. we used rag, black lug, and squid, as mentioned on this site before squid is the magic bait at the moment, we had some bog standard squid and some of those little reddish ones when we ran out of squid we caught no more! great little christmas trip! had cod for tea tonight, happy new year to all
  15. me and a few mates are going to deal pier tomorrow, will mess about with the dropnets at low tide, perhaps cop some baitfish. then fish the tide up to ten when they chuck out, watch out for some cod pics! you got to live in hope!happy new year to all
  16. god bless us every one! i am going to give deal pier a go on wednesday a few friends are coming, its the only time we are all off work. happy christmas to all
  17. ere wasn't that sam cox was it? that worthy regular poster.
  18. tried princes parade sunday afternoon I know things are better at night but i thought we might get a bit of action, not one bite not even a crab or pout. fifteen other anglers lined up next to us they got one small dab between them, mind you we had a day like that at dungie last year about this time where we didnt even see a fish. i will stick to night duty from now on.
  19. thanks for the feedback chaps, i will let you know how it went.
  20. due to bait problems me & my mate are picking some up from folkestone and going on to dungie tomorrow; if any favourable reports come in for folkestone pier, we may have a go there instead.
  21. good on yer besty ; i bet that was a laugh to get up the wall.
  22. must agree with mike on this one i went last night to minster beach, nothing but nuisance whiting, i saw in a local rag, picture of 3lb sole caught at some comp on the island at the weekend. I think i will be going to dungie / dover for the rest of the season.

    Deal Peir

hi sam i used to fish deal quite a bit, i found lately that more codling are showing on the upper part of the pier. but i havent been there for a while,i would recommend the breakwater at dover if you are coming down this way. I have had so many poor sessions on deal over the years, there are always one or two codling showing, but not much to show between thirty odd anglers. anyway good luck
  24. fished the tide up and down last night more or less behind the yacht club. using squid, black lug & rag, lots of scrappy whiting, couple of school bass, and my boy got a bass about 2lb. better than watching the x factor!
  25. an old boy i know who fishes the medway (lets say a lot further upriver than borstal) got a 12 lb bass saturday, i have seen 5 and 6 from the same mark but only had schoolies there myself,i havent seen pics yet but will try to get them on here in the next couple of days.
