  1. Or open a bottle of wine and fall asleep in front of the telly.
  2. If you go to the main Anglers net web site home page, there is an offer on a new type of pva bags. 85 different size bags for a tenner. They won't be on the market for another six weeks. I have ordered some to try when Bass fishing this year. For close range work, stuffed with mackerel, they should work. Look for the link to Fishrite Extreme PVA Bags.
  3. Lee, you will be helping to decimate falling Bass stocks. Have you not been reading about all the problems with Bass stocks? There is a campaign to get sport fish status for Bass, IE, no commercial fishing. They are incredibly slow growing, and cannot support netting for many more years. Do yourself a favour Lee, get a LGV licence, and becom a juggernaught jocky, I did it for thirty years, and there is a shortage of drivers. You can earn £100 per day. [ 24. 4. Well done skippy! My biggest is 5 pounds, not very big, but hoping to improve on that this summer.Had a four and a half too. At least we can rely on Bass in the summer.
  5. How big are the doggies socksy? Rock Salmon? It sells in chip shops. Easy to prepare, look for a good recipe.
  6. Norfolk Boy, I have tried this twice. The problem I had was the film cannister did not fare well under the stress of casting. Let me know how you get on with your design. It tended to force it's way up the line, even though the hole in the lid was made by using a hot wire, keeping the hole as small as possible. I have ordered some bait feeders used for course fishing. They are a spiral that you push groundbait into, and can be used just above the lead. I am going to try the tape that dissolves, ( I can't think of the name of it ) around the bait feeder, it should work a treat for relatively close in fishing, say up to 70 yards. When I fish my local estuary for Bass, I use a couple of mackerel, put loads of knife cuts in them, and wedge them under the rocks before the tide comes in. They attract huge crab and small fish activity, and that must be interesting to Bass and Gar.
  7. Chesters, you still having sex after 30 years of marriage? Must be a record.
  8. Interesting, but I am sceptical. Is it just another money making scam? When you try a new bait, it may be that there are no fish around on that day, so how do you test a bait properly when you cannot be certain that there are fish about?
  9. I think I will wait until June for Bass in my local estuary, the Swale. Leave the tiddlers alone for a while.
  10. Spring tides are best for most species, the problem you have is fine settled weather, ie. high pressure. High pressure affects fish to a high degree. It puts them off feeding. The best time to fish is as the pressure is just starting to fall. I have been thinking of only going fishing when the conditions are going to give me the best chance of catching, and resisting the urge to go' just for a day out'. It is a waste of bait and petrol. Metcheck gives pressure readings. So the best times are around big tides, and with low pressure, or falling pressure, and an onshore wind, as long as it isn't from the East. That's the theory anyway, wether I will stick to it is another matter! Having said that, I have caught more flatties around low water. I suppose it depends on the mark really. [ 21. 11. oops! Must be more serious.
  12. Blimy, they look good! Look good in one of those. £8 is not a lot for a T shirt. [ 19. March 2005, 11:06 AM: Message edited by: kentangler ]
  13. This was suggested for the North Sea, but was chucked out. The commercial interests won the day.
  14. I have a caravan, and ther are loads of very good sites within about 30 to 45 minutes drive from Folkestone, some nearer if you stay near Hythe. Caravan Club site just the other side of Hythe. You won't have a problem. Plenty of Hotels in Folkestone. [ 10. March 2005, 07:30 PM: Message edited by: kentangler ]
  15. I stand corrected, It is Total Sea Fishing. Easy to get confused at the grand old age of 57. I am surprised that the margins are tight, and with about one million sea anglers, that they don't sell many. Hang on, I CAN see why they don't sell many! Still, I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth should I? There may be something of interest over the next year! I wonder why they don't write more articles on the things that interest ordinary anglers, such as more info on shore marks etc. It's all very well testing lovely angling boats, but you would have to win the lottery to afford one. They also test £300 rods! How many of us can afford them? More down to earth info for the ordinary angler would be helpful.
  16. My daughter kindly bought me a subscription of Total Sea Fishing for Christmas. The first issue arrived today. It has 115 pages, 54 of these are full page adverts or made up of small ads. They charge £2.60 for this mag. I would love to know how much revenue they get from the ads alone. It must be a fortune. Then they have the cheek to overcharge for the mag. I honestly can't say that the articles are particularly good. Do any of you chaps buy this mag? If so, what do you think of it? [ 10. 17. I bet if you gave a Bass pen and paper, it could spell better than most anglers on this forum.
  18. Kcrusty, you need some serious advice on how much to spend on tackle. Overspending on designer tackle will not catch more fish.
  19. How do you explain this then? www.weatheronline.co.uk/water/Europ...pe/NorthSea.htm
