  1. I get back on friday but unavailable for any of the 2 weekends after so midweek would suit me better than weekends I realise that might not fit in with most of you guys, but we'll try and get a shore venue picked when some of us can attend. Have a laugh, hopefully catch some fish and maybe even a swally afterwards maybe. I dont know if i could manage a year and a half davey she'd drive me nuts!! Are you available mid week so we can get you out.
  2. Yea the insurance cert is on display in the cab. and have DTI licences for 12 anglers These boats are govened I beleive by Angus council and have to fully meet their requirments, as I say i've only fished from the one boat so can only vouch for that one but i'm sure the girl Kathrine is the same. Matt
  3. Cant find any numbers for stonie boats in the yellow pages anybody got any numbers?? Looks like a shore trip could be the order of the day till May time gives us the best chance of some good catches from the boat. I'm more than happy to go out before may if people are keen. for £16 its a good day out any road people with plenty of travel might not be so keen but we'll have another bash later in the year What your thoughts?
  4. Yea unfortunatly we're in that middle period was thinking around Usan but if Ethie has been fishing that suits me down to the ground. Gourdon or Newtonhill would not be a problem for me.
  5. Right I'll give some stonie boats a ring, like I say I have no recommendations so i'll just have to ring around. I'm well up for a shore venue after all that my real hobby, a day out on the boat is a bit of a jolly. When I get home friday i'll check weather tides etc and we'll get somthing arranged, I can only speak of a few marks between here and Aberdeen if anyone knows of good marks to the south see how they've fished, get the tides and i'm game. The reason I recommend Mari dawn is i've never failed to find fish, he even stayed out an extra hour for free once cos the fishing started of poor. Dave the inshore fishing is sometimes that good here you don't need to steam miles offshore, but i do like hitting bell rock.
  6. Ok have spoke to jim this afternoon (would have posted ealier but all the lights on the rig went out got a bit busy) Prices are: Before April £16pp with rod and bait £18pp without After April £18pp with rod & bait £20 without Price rises across all abroath boats in april, this is for a 6 hr trip. He has pointed out that the area doesnt really start fishing till Mayish, but will take us out if we're really keen, My personal opinion would be to see what the stonie boats are up to first then maybe try arbroath later in the year. Kenny I have no experience of the Girl Kathrine but have heard poor reveiws from different people. Matt
  7. Where would everyone prefer Arbroath Or Stonehaven if we get a venue picked then we can think about dates, Although I live in arbroath I wouldn't actually mind giving Stonie a go never been out from there before, on the other hand I can vouch for a good skipper from Arbroath. Majority wins? sound fair?
  8. Wow what a good response, there obviously seems quite a bit of intrest in stonie, i'll try and find out how they've been fishing, Arbroath has been a bit quiet on the boat front they tend to shutdown over the winter (boat maintenance etc) there is only one boat i'd think of using from Arbroath thats Jim Swankie's Mari Dawn heard some bad press about the others. I know he only does full charters during the winter, I'll give him a ring and find out the score, the good thing about jim is if it hasn't fished well he'll tell you not just take you out anyway. I am really flexible working offshore gives me the bonus of 2 weeks of a month, so if we can agree on a month i'll get it sorted. March/April would suit me down to the ground.
  9. Just wondering how many of you are from this way and if we can get enough together for a boat hire, Arbroath/Montrose/Stonehaven all have some good charters, I know an excellent one with whom I fish regular out of Arbroath, Of course if we cant get enough for a full boat hire we can always just get as many as we can on. I dont mind doing the running if we can agree on a place and date. Matt
  10. A tiny little whiting foul hooked on a size 4/0 through the tail dont ask me how it managed it, didnt even know it was on till I reel'd in to rebait, maybe should of left it on and used it as bait!! Properly hooked was the smallest little flounder I ever did see taken on dirty great lug&squid bait meant for cod on a 4/0 pennel bloody hook was bigger than its head, big baits dont garentee big fish.
  11. 14lb cod from the shore 32lb cod from a wreck of spurn point when I used to live down there

You dont know a guy called Bob Woody do you i'm sure he said he was CRO on the curlew. He's on the Montrose now which is our mothership. Matt.

  17. Typical though I wait all year for a decent easterly and what happens....i'm offshore, Matt missis out again.
  18. Type of fishing: the one were you dont catch much!! shore fishing, really rough ground NE scotland distance not really a problem 50-100yrds adequate currently use a Daiwa sandstorm 12ft rod with a penn 525 GS reel, Thinking possibly a new boat or spinning rod. Bassman how much do yaks go for?
  19. gladly Socksy but how do i send you the stella electronically?
  20. No just got a new one for this winter
  21. Just had a tidy little bonus from work and after a holiday and some work round the house has left me with around £300 thinking of treating myself with it, but short of ideas any help?????
  22. I heard of somthing similar... a guy at work has a cottage as a side line and a polish 'company' got in touch with him wanting to rent it out for a week, unfortunatly the way there expenses system worked they needed to pay £4000 into his account and wanted him to send them a cheque back for £3600 thus the £400 for the rent. dodgy or what obviousley a money laundreing/ identity theft scam, he reported them to police but i'm not sure if anything came of it.
  23. Report for todays visit to Usan (Montrose) Blanked The end....... Never really expected much to be honest sea like a mill pond no good for up here fished hour before low til 3hrs after, had acouple of rattles one of which i think might have been on but I lost the entire rig (obviously my 'release every time' rotton bottom never released!) If I had more time could of had some success after dark Matt
