  1. Put on yer hard hat and run for cover
  2. Bassman, i use a 10ft Zebco rod thats great, also use braid for spinning, i wouldnt change a thing now
  3. As AlderneyBassman says the ChugBugs work, so do Repala Skitter Pops and Rebel PopR's if you can get em. Ive done allot of Popping for bass and must say that after trying it i would never use a Carp rod again and would stick to my 10 ft spinning rod every time. The Carp rod casts the lures great but was very tireing to use. Just my humble opinion Im not saying anyones tackle is unbalanced Regards Ryan. Ps snatcher had a few Bass on them lures of yours, fished em like redgills from the boats to take a few good un's. Ryan.
  4. taiman, not so easy to lighten up on everything if you are fishing into the teeth of a force six. Anything lighter than a 6oz ends up behind you, leaders are a must for conventional shore fishing. Try the uni knot, but double over the mainline and tie in a loop then tie a uni as normal Regards Ryan
  5. Hey Simon, Ive caught lots of Bass on Rebel Pop R's, Rapala Skitter Pops and Saltwater Chug Bugs. Im sure others work though. All the best Ryan.
  6. Sam, what day/time will you be on the pier? Ryan
  7. Starvin, i had a look on the kayak forum i see what you mean All the best guys
  8. Steve, i have used light gear like Dave, however you need lots of room or everyone using the same gear for it to work. Spinning rods are fine, great fun butlanding a decent fish in a strong tide = all other lines up and out the way or a big string ball as the hound ect tears around all the other anglers gear, not so much fun. So braid for fishing very light with one or two anglers or everyone willing to up lines when you hook a good fish is fine however not always easy on a full charter. So for standard uptiding IMHO, monos the way. All the best Ryan.
  9. Steve, Im a SA casting instructor so like to think i can cast a bit, dont think i could uptide in 200ft though dont think we will get anywhere on this one mate. Ryan.
  10. Davy, was you using a grip lead? if so did you have a big belly of line out with it holding your grip lead into the seabed uptide of your position on the boat in 300ft of water? Ryan
  11. Spur, your not teeling us your lead was fishing uptide of your position on the boat are you? Ryan
  12. Its all getting a bit personal now, Steve was, if I am right, just voicing his opinion on the validity of the use of the term uptiding, its not possible in 300ft of water. Yes you can cast uptide in any depth of water but your not uptiding. Regards Ryan.
  13. Steve, Living where the boatcasting craze started and fishing that method from the start with my old trendsetter rod obviously counts for nothing All the best Ryan.
