I think it is inevitable that our Angling will change in the next decade.
The arguments we have seen on other fourms give me little hope that we can just whip out a tube of "angling glue" and make all anglers pull together.
It will start, as it did in Germany, with one or more disciplines of angling.. maybe match fishing??.. maybe keepnets??..
and one by one we'll fall.
There are great people fighting to save our sport and our environment, I do my best to pass on all information and remain non-partisan.
Sadly, some of the pressure groups do not offer support to others, they remain rather selective.
I spent a good hour with Tony Bird at the Game Fair (Salmon and Trout Ass) and it was great to hear how they cooperate with other groups such as the ACA, Wild Trout Trust etc etc.
This week I started to become disillusioned with divisive people, I spend months convincing all anglers to work together Sea/Course/River/Lake and it takes just a few minutes for others to drive a wedge frimly back in the cracks.
This happened to be a debate about Put and Take trout fisheries, but it could easily have been about license fees or expanding the closed season.
The Cormorant issue, have your opinions but don't let it spoil the fact you are all anglers. If we were to close down the Trout Ponds and The Stocked Coarse lakes, there would be a lot of angling pressure on our rivers, we might see less cormorants but has it REALLY helped us (hypothetically speaking).
p.s I need some cheer up sauce, think i'll hang around for a bit if anyone has anything good to add.
