  1. Well done Ross, hooking, boating and landing the first rod caught porbeagle shark in Wick. There is a picture of its dead limp corpse in Fishing News this week. I wonder what he did with it?
  2. see http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c5/big_cod/paulcod.jpg
  3. It is true but as soon as the cancer clears I will. And you can't spell.
  4. There's a surprise, an angler that knows a competitive retail price for line caught bass.
  5. I was going to catch 300kgs of small bass to night but due to your kind offer I have stayed at home. Thanks. PS you owe me £1500. No rush.
  6. That's why they are 200 yards out. Any closer and the trawlers get them. The French boats are in France.
  7. The success of any fishing boat is the skill of the skipper. Nothing else.
  8. No wrong answer. We just keep netting 200 yrds off the shore in Hayling Bay and don't fill in the paperwork. Then read about how you never catch anything. Ha, Ha.
  9. Already you have in place a system that will penalise honest reporting. If we report all landings they close the fishery. Guess what will happen?
  10. Whilst talking about farmers they have 50% of the European budget spent on them. Subsidies for growing tabacco! They are paid not to farm areas. How about increasing the VAT on angling tackle and using the money for the under 10m fleet to stay at home for a couple of years. This would produce many benefits. However, it would have little effect on inshore fish stocks because what the inshore fleet catches is so insignificant to what the French tow away (on the south coast at least). Then anglers will finally see what the real enermy is - the European fisheries policy.
  11. It was an unjust decision based on spurious evidence that won't stand up in court. It cannot be just that this legislation only applies to English boats and not other EC countries. Meanwhile the Labour Party thank the few anglers that care about bass for their votes and now Europe will over turn the legislation. My Human Rights have been violated. I was staying in tonight but I'm going to go out and kill some 36cm bass and donate the cash to the NFFO. Never thought I'd say this but thank God for the EU. Are political donations tax deductable?
  12. Why can I hear the glee in your voice as you write this. Unlike the industries of ship building, steel, coal, textiles and so on fishing has the opportunity to be a huge employer again. All we need is the political will. Unlike the above industries the demand and the product remain as it has always been. Its just we give it to the French and Spanish who value their fish(and most of ours).
  13. In a moment of madness imagine anglers get their golden mile. Who polices it? Where I fish static gear is low tide to 1 mile. Trawling outside this. The trawlers don't come inside cause they are my friends. We protect the small fish ,the flara and fauna. Without netters it's open game. If I was trawling inside 1 mile and was stopped by fishery officers ( very, very unlikely) - I think I have a bomb in my net. I am bring it inshore to be dealt with!!! Ha, ha to the golden mile. Only a desk bound can't keep his breakfast down would think of that.
