Your right Andy, but you would be using 70lb line to tie your shockleader, the question was about using braid shockleaders which are similar in diameter to the mainline so the knot will be no bigger. Scott. The Fishing Directory

I had the same problems on my local water. The eels would hold onto the bait then let go just out of reach of the landing net. My solution was a size 8 hook to 15inch of wire and a small chunk of my bait (sardine) within 5 mins I had a run, an 11 1/2lb Pike. By the end of the session I had 4 eels to 3 1/2lb plus 2 more Pike. I would just like to thank the Commitee of the PAAS for organising a great AGM and thank the guest speakers Gord Burton & Alastair Mcphee for excellent talks. Also thanks to everyone I met there, it was nice to finaly meet you all in person. For me it was an early start and a 400 mile round trip, worth every minute of it, see you all there next year.
